Updating tomtom one xl 32 mb problem

Postby pulsardet » Fri May 24, 2013 5:19 pm

Hi there Ive been looking to update my dear old and loyal friend but I am having issues.

Before i start I use those thing.
maps : USA_and_Canada_890_4235
navcore : 9.510.2-2039.CAB-navcore-LE
use the FastActivate-20-05-2013 for patching.

This what has been do so far. My gps is real slow to upload the info on my gps so i might take time to respond if need to update or try something new.

1- I copy and past the new navcore to my root folder gps where i replace the old files.
2- delete the old map on the gps et paste the new one onto the directory
3- patch the maps using fast activate.
4- then recopy my original ttgo.bif and ttsystem.

Then open the gps the firts time says map not usable or no map found.
Then reconnect to pc trught tthome.

Reopen gps then nothing new still no map.

Any idea what ive done wrong ?

Thank
Frank

First off all save your orginal ttgo.bif and ttsystem.
If you have an Internetconection you can to the follwing things:

Use activate point 3 for your patch ttsystem, after that
point 6 Update QuickGPSfix close it and restart your TomTom and see what it´s going on.

maps : USA_and_Canada_890_4235 OK
navcore : 9.510.2-2039.CAB-navcore-LE I suggest you use Downunder's version: Navcore 9.510
use the FastActivate-20-05-2013 for patching. OK

1. See navcore suggestion above.
2. OK
3. OK
4. If this original ttsystem was not for navcore 9.510, then this is your problem

Sometimes is good to have the old files so you can give the TomTom to ebay and so on.

1. A NEW ttgo.bif file is created EVERYTIME a device is booted, so trying to save an old one is of no help.
2. EVERY navcore has it's own ttsystem file. A patched device can always be returned to an unpatched condition by installing it's current navcore & either it's original out of the box map or a purchased map. So saving a ttsystem file is of no help either.

And what error do you get when you start the GPS?
Is the map activated?
I assume G: is the drive letter in Windows for your TT?

Correction

*** I found a hold map on the net version 865-3261 it is quite old but it work fine on my gps , my current map was 835-2324 so better than nothing but why the map 890.4235 don't work ? Ive download it several time to ensure no problem with the download or data, is there anywhere i can find it it one piece of file ot even a one step older map maybe to try it out, most of the download links dont work anymore.

And G: is my gps drive letter.

Thank you and gratitude for the help.

If you get something from somewhere and have obiously no clue what you are doing, then I guess the problem explains itself...
Get familiar with our forum structure and do some reading;)
Just by showing you so far ignored all advise we got another problem: We can only help if a user follows our instructions.
You got an advise for the Navcore, so check the red sticky threads in this section for the rest ;)

Well actualy i am pretty sure it must be a bad map but everything has been downloaded from here execpt the test map that is quite old but work.

But navcore has been downloaded i use the one you provide the board with, use the 890.4235 and use the fastactivate. but so far no chance with 890-4235 map but i might have found something in my case when i unzip it, tell me back password for the files 3-and 4 of the 5 files so it migh corrupt the map anyone has the same issues? Also i have read a lot from this site and I never thank you so much for the support and help.

1. If there is not a .meta & a .meta.dct file the map folder, then it isn't patched.
2. Disregard TT Home for now.

None of our maps require a password AFTER it has been downloaded.

This is the latest about this saga. So now I use the navcore provide by downunder : version 9.510.2-2039.CAB-navcore-LE for my tomtom xl, use the map 900_4608 and fast active with the latest update. Now its strange the gps boot normaly load the maps, i can search a city, but automaticly freeze on the street input screen, then shutoff. This is has far has i can go. Any one has seen this problem. This is a fresh install everything come from navitotal. If its not to clear has explanation i can make a video of it. But mainly the gps boot, i can input the city but at the street the gps freeze and close cants use the adresse by the map for another exemple.

Thank you for your support.

I had a user in the German section with a weird problem on his 700.
Some things worked fine, others cause freezing and reboots.
Turned out the 700 he has can't handle V9 Navcores at all.
He installed one of my Navcores for the X50 devices and it works fine now.
The X50 versions I posted use a Kernel from a V8 Navcore, so you get a V9 working on a V8 motor so to say.
Maybe it is worth a try for your XL?
