I cannot for the life of me find the right tutorial to mod my TomTom One - can somebody point me in the right direction?
I am currently on the following:
Maps: 830.2306
Firmware: 8.012
Its capacity is 512.8mb.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks

You should be able to run our tools in Wine.
Not too much development was done for Mac users, they are a rare breed

I managed to open it in Wine and it opens a 'terminal/DOS' type window and asks for the drive for my TomTom. Whatever I type, it just closes. Is there absolutely no alternative?

That does help
I am not 100% sure about your bootloader and Navcore version in terms of options.
There is a little chance it is a device that has the same restrictions like some other ONE models that won't allow to use a different Navcore.
You could check this by downloading a compatible map and patching the Navcore you already have.
If that works fine it should be possible to upgrade the Navcore if you require.

Do I need to upgrade the Navcore? All I want is an up-to-date map but I'm not sure how to do that

For this you only follow the instructions in map thread, activate map, patch Navcore done.
Just select a map that suits your Navcore.

Do you have a link to the right thread? And one last question, do I need any software or can it all be done via the Mac equivalent of 'Explorer'.

You should use Windows or a good emulator as there are no current tools supporting Apple.
The backup can still be done with it though.
