Thanks again for replying, tendriver :-)

Well, I don't understand. I did what you wrote:

1. Cut the old map folder out of your memory & copy the new map folder in.
2. Go here: TomTom Automatic Navcore Installation Read the instructions carefully. select SE_Navcore.9.205.547817_32mb_devices.rar (Widescreen ONLY)
3. See step 2.
4. See the instructions referred to in step 2.
5 If you are referring to meta codes then NO. They are included in step 2.

After that, I definitely have a new version of navcore and a new map. I testdrove it for 400 km and it is new. I was under the impression that your instructions in the above included 'patching'?

To get you favourites changes using Home you have to use the simulation (Operate my One/Go).
Since you are using a non genuine map you have to patch the Home DLL's, Fastactivate works well for that, last button.
After this patching Home won't complain about the map and you can proceed as posted by Tendriver.

The other patching is for a Navcore and activating is for a map.
Usually you don't need to patch Home as it only affects the simulation and not the downloads, but you need the simulation so you have to patch the Home Dll files too.

I am not referring to your unit. I am referring to TT Home, which must be patched before you can use the "Operate my device" feature.

Download & unzip this pre-patched folder: [Please Register or Login to download file]

Place the unzipped folder in the extensions folder here:

With XP
C:\Documents and Settings\ User Name\ApplicationData\TomTom\HOME\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\extensions

With Vista or Windows 7
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\TomTom\HOME\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\extensions

Now "operate my device" should function & you can continue with the instructions in post 13.

Thank you for this reply, tendriver. I have to admit I misunderstood you previously; sorry for that.

I have done as you said (screenshots) but unfortunately no luck; the error message remains the same. As you can see in the screenshots, I have placed the files in /extensions both with and without the packed subdirectory, but it doesn't make any difference.

Should I then proceed with this 'Fastactivate' that Downunder35m mentions?

Do you use .bif & .bak files ?

if you use that trick then TomTom home use 8.010 profiles and map not works with it...

In your c:\Documents and Settings\No\ApplicationData\TomTom\HOME\Profiles\9ww7ti98.default\extensions screenshot, the "][email protected] folder should not be unpacked, nor should it be in brackets as the screenshot shows it to be..

I have no clue what *.bif and *.bak files are :D

(So I take it I don't use them). I have only done what tendriver told me to do in the above.

So I did unzip it. Just so I have no misunderstanding: I don't unzip anything at all, I only place the *.zip in the /extensions folder, so there will be no directory below the /extensions folder, right?

Download this pre-patched folder: [Please Register or Login to download file]
You will now have a downloaded .rar, titled: [email protected]
Unzip the downloaded "][email protected]
You will now have a manila folder titled: "][email protected]
Place the manila folder titled: [email protected] in the extensions folder here:

c:\Documents and Settings\No\ApplicationData\TomTom\HOME\Profiles\9 ww7ti98.default\extensions

Thanks tendriver for your reply. I deeply appreciate that you are trying to help me :D

If I am not mistaking what you write in your latest post is exactly what you wrote in your first post as well. As I replied to that first post, I did that and it didn't work. You followed up your first post by saying I shouldn't unzip the *.rar. In the meantime, I have tried that, I have placed the unzipped *.rar in the /extensions directory, but that also didn't work: on operating the TT it wanted to download a new file (so it didn't recognize the *.rar that I copied into the directory), which, on a second attempt, turned out to be the same type of files that I manually copied into the directory (out of the *.rar). Needless to say, the files TT Home downloaded also resulted in the same error 'can't use this map'.

I think TT perhaps changed the routine a little bit in the meanwhile or so?

Should I perhaps use the fastactivate referenced in the above, or is this not possible since I already autopatched?

Thanks again tendriver: your help is much appreciated :D

No where in any post did I say you shouldn't unzip the .rar!! Please post another screenshot showing the current contents of the extentions folder.

It appears that we have a bit of a language problem. You unzip a .rar or .zip. You unpack a folder, as in remove the files from said folder.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes indeed, Tendriver, the language seems to be a problem :D

As archivers pack files into an archive, expanding the files out of the archive would be unpacking. So, to make sure we have no misunderstanding about what I have done:

1. I have unpacked (= unzipped = unrarred) the files and placed them into the /extensions directory.
2. I have not unpacked the files but placed the archive (*.zip/*.rar) into the /extensions directory.

None of these two methods did any good; the problem in both cases was the 'map can not be used' as referenced before.

I still suspect TT might have changed something, this being the reason why I doesn't work anymore. The autopatcher mentioned above by your fellow mod, would that be a solution?

Bye,

(PS: I have just installed Windows 7: can you remember Windows 1.0? I can, man, if you compare W7 to that anything is progress :D :D :D )

1. Please post a screen shot of this configuration, as previously requested in post 26.
2. This isn't correct, so you can forget it.
3. TT hasn't changed anything.
