Volume low on 920's

Volume low on 920's

Postby bohica » Sat Jan 14, 2012 11:53 am

Morning,
Is there anyway of increasing the volume on my tt920? I have to transmit the sound through my Cab Stereo. My wagon is not the quietest of vehicles, but even in my car the 920's are still not as loud as I'd like.

The GO X20 series has been around for 5 years. How long have you had yours? Has this been a problem since you got it? If you have the Volume preferences Slider @ 100% & have checked "Link Volume to Noise Level", then you might have a bad speaker.

WOW, 5 years. I think I've had them that long. I have 3, 1 in the Car, 1 in the Truck and a 'spare' and the volume is just as low in all of them. I didn't really notice until I tried a 540 and the volume on that model is much higher.
Must be me, I was hoping there'd be a little something I could add to the HD.
Thanks for your time. :clap::)

I have a X20 set at 70%. Above that is way too loud.

It depends on the Navcore and car stereo too.
Have never tried the original NC, but the 9.004 is pretty loud over the radio, as Tendriver I have too go below 60% to have about the same loudness than a radio station at the same volume.
Above 75% the output is too distorted for my coustom warning sounds.
One nice solution I used for a friend was to connect the radio through a Lini-in-out speaker cable. He had the input on the front (for MP3 player or whatever you want) and could even adjust the volume for that seperatly from the normal radio use. Only downside was that it is either radio or TT.
If you can't fix it to your satisfaction with a different NC and your radio has no other options you might want to think about a MP3 thingy for the cigarette lighter, they often have a headphone connection for a mobile phone or DVD player and allow to adjust the volume to the radio. Here they go for below 20$ in the shops and below 10 on Ebay....

The 920 has a transmitter built in. I prefer the Radio on when I'm driving but I need to have the TomTom instructions transmitted through the stereo so I can hear it OK above the sound of the noisy engine.
I have the Truck maps and Navcore 8.398 or something like that.
Will the latest Navcore work with the trucking maps?
I have a 16SDCard full of music transmitting through the stereo, same volume level as the instructions.

A Truck map must use a Truck navcore & 8.398 is the latest.

I was joking, it means the 'problem' is with me. :(
Thanks for your help.
