What size SD card for GO530

Postby boonergooner » Thu Dec 20, 2018 11:33 am

Good morning all,

Anyone know what size SD card is the max for a GO530?
Also, does anyone know where I can find the latest Tomtom map compatibility chart?
Thanks.

First check your bootloader
Checking bootloader (the only reliable method)
Enter a device reset 15 sec.
Then turn on the device and hold the start button until you
get info screen. Which bootloader is there.

Thank you for that Holyhead.

Bootloader is: S5.5279 clist#575098 RVCT.

The link you provided gets me to a topic that I have looked at a number of times, am I supposed to be able to see an image of the map chart on there? or is there a link I cant spot?

I have updated my GO530 on TomTom home (as much as it does noe its end of life) and the settings now show, App 9.702.xxx, is that the NavCore version?

Thanks again.

You can use SD Card from max 16 GB (32GB is possible but not alway,s work so stick to max 16GB)
Class 6 or higher.
9702 is the Navcore version and is a truck navcore but can also been used with normal cars.
First you have to patched your navcore 9702
Copy "FastActivate.exe" to the root of the 530.

viewtopic.php?f=127&t=19452
Mirror
Run "FastActivate.exe".
Select 3 till the message
OK System patched

1) Take empty SD card from at least 8GB SDHC class 6 or higher.
2) Format the SD card Fat32 once slowly. If it's a new card then you can skip this.
3) Reset the device (at least 15 sec) and then run it till the notice "No map found"
4) Use map Europe_TRUCK_1020_9254
viewtopic.php?f=180&t=20978
Unpack it and
Copy the new map to your SD card in its own folder.
When you open the map you see the individual files.
Not a map in a map.
5) Copy the file ttgo.bif from intern (530) to the root of the SD Card
6) Copy "FastActivate.exe" to your SD Card root.
Run "FastActivate.exe".
Select 1
After 1 go to the root SD Card and rename the file
Updated_meta in
meta
Select 2
Done
7) SD card in the device. Reset the device (at least 15 sec)
Start the 530.

Oh wow, thank you, I wasn't expecting all that!
One question before I start:

"After 1 go to the root SD Card and rename the file
Updated_meta in
meta"

I don't quite understand which file name I am going to be renaming and what name to change it to?

Thank you.

When you selekt 1 from FastAktivate you have a new fie in the root of the SD Card called Updated_Meta.txt. This file you rename to
meta.txt (delete updated_ and save file)
After that select 2 and the map get aktivated.

Hi, I have downloaded the 8 parts of the Map listed, over 3.5 GB's? I unzipped the first part ok,I got the message "Unable to load thumbnails for spanned Zip files" at the end? but the files are in its folder.
But when I try to unzip the other RAR files I get an error message:

Extracting to "C:\Users\User\Downloads\Map\"
Use Path: yes Overlay Files: no
Error: Bad data in file ""
Irrecoverable Error: Bad data detected.
Error code: 0
Error description:

My questions are,

Do I need all 8 parts? and if so do I need to try downloading them again?

Thank you.

The map has been split into 8 separate parts with WinRAR...it's called a spanned archive

To reassemble > put all of the downloaded parts into one place > right click on one of the files & select 'Extract here' > WinRAR will recompile the map into one map folder with all the parts inside > the resulting map folder now just needs to be copied to your device & activated

Yes, you need all 8 parts...
Don't download them again until you've tried extracting them properly with WinRAR

Also, please don't post the same message twice...that's a big no no

I believe I am all sorted, so thank you and apologies for the double post, please regard me as suitably chastised!

The instructions were spot on and the only issues I had were due to my own naivety over unzipping spanned RAR files!!

Cheers again.
