Which Map - TomTom XL Live IQ

Postby IanRowlings » Wed Jun 29, 2011 8:55 am

Hi
I've got the TomTom XL Live IQ Routes Europe v9.058.568435.2 running the original map Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB v845.2645 and want to update the map to v870. Unfortunately they have increased the size of these maps beyond the 2Gb of the devices memory and introduced 'map zones'. I've downloaded Western_Europe and Europe_West versions 870.3406 which I assumed would be equivalent and suitable for this device. However, after patching and installing them, the device states that they cannot be used.

I've successfully downloaded, patched and installed a map on my HTC mobile, so I think I know what I should be doing.

Has anyone got any idea which Europe v870 map would be suitable for the TomTom XL Live IQ Routes?

Please Help. Thanks.

1. Both of these maps are suitable for your unit.
2. Confirm that the maps were actually patched by seeing both a .meta file & a .meta.dct file in each of the 870.3406 map folders. Also confirm that the 9.058 navcore is patched.
3. See #1 above.

Hi tendriver
Thanks for the info.
Yes, both versions of the map have both meta files.
No, I haven't patched navcore as this was originally on the device. Do I need to do this and if so how???
Finally, when I update the device with the new map files I usually just overwrite the existing files on the device. Is that OK or should I be doing something else?
Regards
Ian

1. To use a patched map, the navcore must also be patched. Go here: FastActivate ENG 29.05.2011 {1.8.7.0} Read the instructions. Download the Premium version. Run the activator & click the ttsystem/PNDNavigator button.
2. NEVER do this. Always remove the entire old map folder, if it is no longer needed & copy in the new map folder.

Hi tendriver
Thanks for all the advice.
I obviously didn't know what I should be doing, but it's all sorted now thanks to you.
All the best.
