Which new Tomtom to buy

Which new Tomtom to buy

Postby Bepto » Tue Dec 28, 2010 7:09 pm

My TT One V3 has finally given up the ghost and I need to replace it. I need to be able to input Custom POI's and prefferably have an option to upgrade to TT truck software which I already have downloaded.

What are my options, can the truck sw be used on all new tomtoms & can all new units accept custom POI's?

I could go to £200 or so, I like the look of the 1000 but was under the impression that it cant do custom POI's.

Someone at work has offered me a Go 630 at a very good price and I wondered whether that would suffice, or would I be better off getting a new unit.

The 630 has been a problematic unit to modify. I would steer clear of it. Most of the new models have 1 to 2GB internal storage and no card slot. This limits you on using large maps or adding extas. Attached is a specs file for most of the models.

There are a couple of truck navcores modified for the GO X50 series. I know they are good on the 750 & 950.

I would say the GO750 and GO950 are one of the best devices you can buy at the moment. They have an SD-slot, a 400 MHz CPU and 64 MBs of RAM. I don't know where you live, but you could try the TomTom Outlet Store: very cheap and fully functional devices.

Right, bit of an upturn - Went to work last night and saw the guy with the Go 630, he was desperate for cash and offered me the 630 for £20. Needless to say I took the deal, now got it home and this is the info on the unit..

App 8.351 (9982/090518) OS:315187
64MB RAM (Free 9.4Mb)
GPS v1.20, Boot 5.5120
Map: Western Europe v830.2305

Given the above what are the best options to get the map/navcore up to date & possibly put the truck sw on it.

Oh, and it has no SD Card in it? I thought the map was stored on the card??

No, SD cards are an option, not standard equipment. Maps are on the internal from the factory. You will need a 4GB card for the Truck NC & map.

Download:
[Please Register or Login to download file]
SE_ttsystem.8.395.1913.rar

Europe TRUCK 860.3122 with Automatic Installer and patcher

Load the .cab files & folders & only the 8.395.rar ttsystem file onto the card.
Copy the 630 ttgo.bif file onto the card.
Run the 3122 Installer & patcher.
Done.

Maps with “Automatic Installer & Patcher” are a Navitotal's Exclusive Product.
You just need to download and run the file on your computer.

1. With your TomTom device plugged in or your sdcard in your sdreader and an active internet connection
2. Click on the .exe file [Choose TomTom path or sd path] and click on the [Install] button.
3. Wait until the install process finishes and your new map will be installed and patched.

When you say load the cab files & folders onto the card do you mean just copy them to the card as downloaded OR extract them to the card? The navcore is a .cab & the tt sys is a rar.

Reading your post again it seems I only extract the ttsystem file from the rar file? is that correct? what about the .cab

Load = copy. Unzip the .cab & copy the files & folders to the card. Unzip the .rar & copy only the ttsystem file to the card. Better?

For the 910 use 9.205 .cab and matching se ttsystem (or the autoinstaller) along with Western and Central Europe 860.3101 and autoactivate to patch ;)
