There is differences but nothing a user would notice during normal use.

Missed out on the 520 (it went for £44 in the end) but managed to get a 730 for £52. No sd card mind you so just wanted to ask which brand/type of micro sd card is best for this device?

Thanks :)

Any wil do as long you have an adapter to make a SD card.

Defintely normal SD for the 730 not micro sd?

In either case should I go for HC or XC?

And size?

You should go for SD - according to TT.
SDHC support became available through the newer bootloader.
As there is not benefit speed wise (in the TT, not the card reader on the PC!) from SD to SDHC I would not even bother to get a XC.
4GB is sufficient for all maps available, if you need more than you can still go bigger.
There are still people out there using Tomplayer to watch movies on these things...

A little 4GB SD/SDHC Insight

4GB SD cards just happen to be current, when the SDHC cards were introduced. As a result, both 4GB SD & 4GB SDHC cards were available, until vendors' SD inventory ran out. I haven't seen a 4GB SD card on store shelves, where I am, in quite some time. I'm not saying that they are not available somewhere, just that I haven't seen any.

I was going to say, 8GB seems to be the norm with SDHC cards and not too expensive on mymemory either £6.95 for a sandisk one.

WIll probably buy that unless any of you have any specific recommendations?

I'm good with it, as long as you get a brand name like Sandisk, Kingston, PNY etc.

Agree with Tendriver re sd cards, i have used a few in different sat navs and the cheaper ones nearly always have a problem in the device, some have failed completely and others seem to self lock so no other info can be added such as poi etc.
Sandisk, Kingston, PNY are the only ones i use now.

Hi again,

I received the tomtom 730 from ebay, but I cannot progress beyond the legal notice screen :(

I have managed to get it to connect to the mac and using tomtom home I have updated the maps, but i cannot interact with the screen at all!!

Any ideas?

Thanks

Have you tried a full reboot, hold the on button down until you get a page at writing up ,then release and do the soft reset, that's the small hole near the power plug underneath.you will need a pin or staple to insert .

I tried various combinations of resets last night, ultimately ending up at the same legal notice screen where I was unable to press the Agree button :(

I also tried removing the application using tomtom home, and re-installing it to no success.

I'm ready to throw the towel in at open up a dispute on ebay since the guy clearly didn't test it before he sold it to me.
