1. however I don't quite understand step 5. Put a copy of the "new" GO 730's ttgo.bif file on the card.
2. Where is the "new" ttgo.bif file retrieved from?

1. Edited for clarification. "new" was describing the device, not the ttgo.bif file.
"5. Put a copy of the GO 730's ttgo.bif file on the card."
2. There is a ttgo.bif file in your GO 730 backup folder.

2. when I run fastactivate patch navcore option the ttgo.bif file suddenly goes from being last modified on 05/10/2015 to a modified date of 01/01/2000?
3. Also, fastactivate did not give me an option of which removable disk to select and thus patch the right navcore?

1. You are correct, BUT FastActivate doesn't use any of that info, so it matters not.
2. A new ttgo.bif file is created EVERYTIME the device is booted. The last modified date, on the ttgo.bif that you have now, is not important.
3. If you had been given the option, which removable disk would you have selected? Perhaps the SD card?? Where is FastActivate located, per step 4? Perhaps the SD card also.
You weren't given an option, because it wasn't necessary.
