PS. one of the options on fastactivate is to patch tomtomHome - is this necessary since I am not using tomtomHome yet.

Nope that's not needed, it just allows you to "operate my TomTom," bit useless really.

Your setup looks good to me as long as it works, the master will hopefully confirm .

2. Sorry to have looked like I was ignoring the instructions I wasn't I was just very confused.
1. That is why I gave you exact instructions in post 56.
2. Follow the instructions first, take care of the confusion later. Doing so would have cleared up a lot of the confusion. That was the purpose of step 7.
You are ready to hit the highways & byways!!!
Patching TT Home only allows you to use "Operate My Device" with a device that has a patched navcore.

Don't forget to add the Speed Cams, that you need, to the map folder.
Then:
4. Put FastActivate.exe on the card.
6. Run FastActivate.exe option 2 again.

Ah okay cool, is there anything else that needs adding after?
It's actually for the old man! I'll make sure he understands how much we went through to get it working for him :D

as usual navitotal with a "little help" from that guy tendriver has helped resolve and teach a newbie what to do and in the correct procedure.
my efforts did confuse a tad but my way works for me , just extra effort is all.
It goes to show how good the mods on here really are and they do have the patience of a saint and the tenacity of a bulldog (british i might add) to help someone thru it all.
thats why i donate to this forum, it helped me massively and i now reap the benefits by having the latest maps etc.so in a small way i reciprocate
glad your sorted .

Bootloader 5.5022 or higher is required to use a SDHC 4GB or larger card. You have to use a SD card smaller than 4GB to update the bootloader.

Hi,
thanks, but I just put the card into the TomTom, plugged it via USB to my PC, and a new letter for the drive appears, but I can not format it. Even no size displayed. It's a blank SD card. I've tried to copy the files, but couldn't.

I use tomtom home to update the mapcorrections and download new gps data. Whenever i attach a tomtom my tomtom home shows a window that another (my original first tomtom) device is registered to my account, i just click x and tomtom home continues to update.

First update your bootloader.
After that you can continue updating the tomtom
