Which Tomtom should I buy?

Which Tomtom should I buy?

Postby novadragon849 » Wed Jun 12, 2013 1:03 pm

Hi I was wondering if someone can recommend me one or two different models of TomTom that can be hacked. I'm aware that certain ones can't be due to some program change but I want to be 100% sure that the one I get can be.

Its for the UK only and price doesn't really matter

Thanks

I simply refuse the answer this time as there are more than enough identical requests in the general section already.
So please have a read and next time simply do the right thing : use the search and have a read before making a request!

We get the same request several times a month, so it should be no problem to find your answer in less than 15min ;)

Sorry will remember next time. Just did some research and came up with two within my budget and is hackable. Which one is the better one do you think?

1. TomTom XL 2 IQ 4.3" Sat Nav with UK and Ireland Maps

2. TomTom Start Classic 3.5" Sat Nav with UK and Ireland Maps

I tried looking up on these two on here but not a lot of comparison anywhere..

Just check the forum for the problems with a Start....
Too limited, too small too many problems.
The XL models can often be complicated when use NC's not designed for them.
With just a bit more reading you would have found the TT models that offer "the most bang" , but you are getting there ;)

A GO 520 is an excellent choice, if you can find one. Any of the GO X20 or X30 series is an excellent choice.

Well, everything from the X20/X30 series is "outdated" and no longer in production.
But even with a faulty battery it is worth the money.
Battery is less than 20 bucks and easy to replace ;)
They are still the only full featured devices with no hardware limitations.
Considering they can go for less than 50 bucks on Ebay in working order....

Edit: I really start to hate that you tend to beat me by one or two minutes! ;)
