A new Garmin map has been realized for the Kenwood DNX8180DABS. Normally the device uses NTU maps. However, these new NTU maps do not work on this device, only if you copy the GarminDevice.xml from this device to an SD card and then download it via GarminExpress. However, this NTU map is then at least 1 year or much older.

Download the map and then unzip it once with the latest WinRar.
Then copy the "Garmin" folder as it is to a Fat32 slowly formatted SD card (16GB or 32GB Class 10, Samsung/SanDisk), into the slot, restart the kenwood and check under myMaps whether it was loaded correctly.

The map includes full Europe, full junction view and 3D buildings.

Feedback would be desirable.

Interesting the 2023.10 NTU don't work.
Kenwood only updates it's maps annually ,as updating a Vehicle head unit is not as easy as others which are updated quarterly ,but
2022 vs 2023.10 is confusing ,Garmin has got ahead of in naming it's map series.
2023.10 is really from the first quarter of 2022

so glad I came across this site.
I have a Kenwood DNX8180DABS and I want to update the maps, I'm following the Garmin instructions of :
Insert microSD card into the appropriate slot on your navigation system. On your navigation system, press Settings > System > About > Update. Your vehicle will automatically imprint a unique ID code on the SD™ card.

But I can't find the about -> Update bit to imprint the sd card.

How did you guys manage to get the latest maps onto the device?

I sussed it, I somehow managed to find the nav settings menu through randomly pressing things!
