Naviextras Toolbox can't recognize sd card. How to update primo2

Postby laingman » Sat Dec 26, 2015 6:33 am

Hello,

New here, No matter what I do I can't get the naviextras program to recognize my sd card so that I can upgrade my primo software. Does anyone know of a work around to do this. And if so would I need to replace the whole primo folder or just certain file or sub folders? Thanks

Depends on what you want or need to update. Maps or the whole program?
And how can we possibly know what maps or program build you are talking about? And what needs updating or not.
Maybe it's the latest Primo. Or not. The maps you have can be recent or 4 years old. And what maps? Europe? USA? Middle East? etc. Only you know.
Naviextras not recognizing your Primo is a 99% chance of your Primo being a not OEM product, thus a cracked Primo. Thus updating maps and map related files is a matter of download-copy-paste.

Man, I have been on forums before mostly helping and getting helped with discontinued phone and browser and I have to say that in all these years I have never seen a question answered with such attitude. Probly would have been better if you didn't reply.

A better (nicer) reply would be like hello newby, welcome to the forums. We would like to help you but you have to give more details about this and that etc.

Anyways, I have the navigation thing in a boss head unit keeps bothering me about updating. The folder that I copied to backup says primo2 and I have had the radio since about 2012 or so. I only need USA maps. I am confused about the software not recognizing primo, I thought it is not recognizing the actual sd card device because that's what it says, no device connected.

Download copy from where? Is there a legal way to acquire the maps that will work?

Thanks for reply tho

I am not sorry, to be perfectly clear.
This is not the place to be surrounded with comfort, neither a place for fully legal stuff.

Anyway, if you want legal maps, turn to your device seller. Maybe he will give help. Probably he will not.
Not that legal maps, when you are still interested, can be found here : maps-buildings-dem-poi-f82/. Look for the latest HERE maps for North America. It will be the 2015Q2 for now. If you find a working link (I don't provide one) copy the new files in the right place. That is: replace your files with the ones you downloaded.
Better safe than sorry: move your old files to your computer so in case of need there is a backup. When all is well, you can delete that backup.
If you need more assistance : maps-buildings-dem-poi-f82/where-put-map-related-files-igo-primo-t11326.html.

Thanks for the info I will give it a try.. Yes I do have a backup of the primo folder.

A little off topic, I finally figured out that for music player function in the primo program to work the music files have to be loaded on the same sd card as the maps. I am a little slow I suppose.

Good news is that the primo music player interface is way better and less confusing than the one in the boss program. Unfortunately, it does not seem to be integrated with the boss controls, so there is no equalization possible and the music is extremely flat and almost un-listenable.

rename the .exe file to "MobileNavigator" and try naviextras toolbox again.

Don't worry - not everyone has such an "attitude". I've noticed the same thing in my short time here. There are a few members that are extremely "grumpy" all of the time! :-)

I'm sure that they get a lot of the same requests with missing info or the same questions repeatedly, but that's the way these forums work. A new person comes on and asks the same question that has been asked 20 times before. It's just the way it is. But that's the whole point of these forums - to help people that need help. Instead of having such and attitude and telling someone to search or instead of lecturing them, you can help the user out just as easily. If you don't think someone is deserving of help, then just ignore the post - no need to be all grumpy and have such an attitude! If it's really that bothersome to you, then just don't reply! :-) Just my opinion on the matter, of course!

It's really only 2 or 3 members that I've seen repeatedly act like that (not mentioning any names!). The vast majority are polite and willing to help without "scolding" or "lecturing" you!

Anyway, Primo 2.4 does have an equalizer that you can enable. However, it's considered an "experimental feature" and I've never tried it personally. If you want to give it a shot, you'd need to add the following to your "sys.txt" file, which resides in the main Primo directory:

Under the [debug] section in sys.txt, add this line:
experimental_features=1

Then, when you re-start Primo, you will have a little purple "beeker" in the bottom left-hand corner of the main Primo screen. If you click on it, it will show you some "experimental features" that you can enable, one of which is an equalizer - which after enabled, can be accessed under the Sound settings menu. It's not pretty, but I'm assuming that it works (like I said, I've never tried using it personally).

Give it a shot and report back if it helps at all....

The problem is that unless people can make the effort to describe the problem in detail, explaining the hardware and software they have, what they want to do and what they have already tried, there are only two responses:

1 ask for more info

2 ignore their request.

Most of us do 2 so don't give someone who bothers to do 1 a hard time!

I think that most people would rather that person "ignore their request" instead of being rude about it... You can "ask for more info" in a mature, polite way. You don't need to be so rude to ask for more info.

Like I said, some of the people that reply just make it sound like it's such a bother for them to reply. So then don't reply and someone else will.

Again, just my opinion. I'm a member on many forums and I've never seen such rude responses from people like I see on here. It's just uncalled for in my opinion.

Agreed. Sorry for the off-topic posts.

To the OP - please try enabling the equalizer that I mentioned at the bottom of post #7 and report your results (if it makes the music sound any better when playing via the Primo music player).

Ok,so I managed to download igo primo 2.4 9613 from somewhere. Now this map business is confusing me. I tried to get the north america here map but ended up on a site in french or some other lanquage I don't understand. Can someone with more experience suggest what woud be the best north america map to go with it. I saw a viideo and it appears this version comes with equalizer enabled. Right? If not I will enable it as suggested by jtrosky.
