8821 and 8823 are both the same age (v1005 maps).
8823 supports IQ Routes, ALG, TTS and HNR (No cspeech but your device doesn't support that anyway).
8821 only supports TTS.
Check out the map compatibility chart to see what features are available.

I have checked 8823 and can confirm that there is a meta and it activates without a problem.
I am not sure if there is a meta for 8821 and havent tried it.

Well, I really bad...
I downloaded the 6 files, the first of which is an executable.
I ran the.exe part 1 and it installed me a folder in the gps
USA_Canada_1GB_1005_8821 in a "brand" folder and a "cline.dat" file.
I can't find the "FastActivate.exe" I need to run.
Anybody got any ideas?

What did you not understand "There is no meta available for that map. There must be a meta available." You can not activate a map, even with auto install, if no meta is available.

Even if you are a novice you can always start with the section tutorials and read
viewtopic.php?f=80&t=19485
and special the line: You'll find a thread with Meta codes for each map series here
Click on here.
And after reading you should have know how to find out if a meta is availble or not.
So first look if a meta is availble if so start downloading a map. No meta availble downloading a map is a waist of time.

I downloaded the right USA_Canada-101487 maps.
I removed crpoi.dat and poi.dat as shown.
I transferred the file to the root of the tomtom.
then I started the tomtom and I have a nice red message that says "you can't use this map on this GPS: USA_Canada-101487".
I'm a little discouraged, I don't know what to do.

1. Download FastActivate
2. Extract the archive to the root of your device and run FastActivate.exe
3. Select options 2 & 3 (waiting for successful messages each time)
4. Disconnect & test...done

It's very difficult to get started in this field. (even more when you don't speak English and translate everything)
