GO 700

Postby goyon2000 » Thu Nov 08, 2018 7:25 pm

Hi

I am a newbie in this forum and I 've tried to read as much as possible the information about the tomtom map and navcore

I have a tom tom GO 700 that is still working well.
Here is some info about it:

ttgo.bif:
DeviceName=TomTom GO 700
DeviceVersionHW=GO 700
DeviceSerialNumber=M5xxxxxxxxxx
BootLoaderVersion=54201
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=7903
ApplicationVersion=9183

Storage:
Size 220137MB, Free 132902MB

I made a backup of this tom tom as well

My goal would be to have the most recent map for the Western europe

If I understand well my current navcore is 7.903 so I should check the map available for this version on the table posted on this forum.

What advantages can I have if I tried to upgrade the navcore as well ?

I intend to use the tool (universal navcore installer) found on this forum. Is is ok ? Any advice before I am starting this operation

Thank for you help and answers

We have 3 x Western Europe maps that already have meta codes available but none of them are compatible with your current navcore so you may as well go for the following as it has the most features:

Western_Europe 1015_9107 = 2.04 GB

If you read the tutorial, you'll notice that to use that map you have no choice but to upgrade the navcore (Yes, downunder's 9.510 in the universal navcore installer will be fine).

topic19485.html

Of course, you're going to need to download FastActivate from here:

topic19452.html

and the SpeedCams:

topic6933.html

All of the instructions are provided but feel free to ask any questions if you need to.
I know you said you've already backed it up but make sure it's a complete backup where Windows Explorer was set to show all hidden files & folders before you make any changes to the device.

If you're happy with the old GO 700 and it works fine you'll be happy to do all of the above.
It will perform better than ever before.

Hello

Two questions: It is recommended to empty the tomtom before installing a new navcore

just deleting the file or format the device ?

At the moment I am unable to download the map because it takes a hell of time for the different file. does the paid version is really better ?

It's your decision whether to just delete the files or format it...constant formatting is not recommended but if it hasn't been done in a while, it can be a good idea.

Downloading files as a free user can be time consuming but if you don't mind paying a small amount, you will get the map at full speed.

The map sizes are here:

viewtopic.php?p=169904#p169904

Bear in mind that if you pick another map, it must have a matching meta code to be able to activate it.

Personally, I'd keep Western_Europe_1015_9107 but delete some of the cspeech files that you probably won't use anyway

You're right, there are no cspeech files in this map

You can delete the following but bear in mind you'll be losing POI's when deleting poi.dat:

crpoi.dat
poi.dat
cphoneme.dat

Ok

I removed these files and then I had to understand the meta codes and the fastactivate tools. (not so intuitive)

The map is now working.

I had to re install some voices using the standard tomtom tools

So thanks everyone !

Have a good week

As an addendum: you don't have to remove the poi.dat but if you need the storage place it's good to know that you can replace a map's poi.dat with any other map's poi.dat which is smaller. So you can opt to take poi.dat from a UK map.
