Special v1010 maps


Activation of maps with equivalent metas. If you have a map that has no meta, you may be able to activate it if there is an equivalent meta.

So, in simple terms (Iberia_1010_8892 example):

Download/decompress/copy the map that you want to activate (but for which you don't have the meta).
Delete the relavent .meta file
Copy into the map folder the .meta file from the other map (same country - compatible as number) for the same country
Activate the map with the usual system.

For example:

Copy map Iberia_1010_8892
Delete map Iberia_1010_8892 meta file (Iberia-101528.meta)
Copy the meta of Iberia_1010_8950 (Iberia-101576.meta) that has meta code into map 1010_8892 folder
Unlock the map.

The equivalent numbers are:

• 1010_8889 = 1010_8890 = 1010_8891 = 1010_8923 = 1010_8924 = 1010_8908 = 1011_8977 = 1011_8983 = 1011_9043
• 1010_8892 = 1010_8893 = 1010_8894 = 1010_8949 = 1010_8950 = 1010_8951 = 1010_8952 = 1011_8979 = 1011_9046

Very important: only when the size of the meta files that we are going to change are the same

Not without the equivalent meta I'm afraid

However, you could use Africa 1010.8895 instead as we've already got a meta code for that one...the only difference is it hasn't got Cspeech and HNR which you probably wouldn't be using anyway:

; Africa 1010_8895

Activating UK & Rep of NI 1010.8952 with meta file from 1010.8950 works fine. Made the mistake of renaming the meta file to match the recipient map (doesn't work) Just copy and paste the working meta file to the required map folder. As 'Orni' & 'Fredderf' say just make sure the meta files are exactly the same size. Thanks guys keep up the good work

Hi, thank you for the help. I am trying to activate Western_Europe_1011_8978 for which there is no Meta at present, I have tried the steps above with the meta for the Western_Europe_1011_8979 map but it doesn't work.. Any ideas? TYIA

No idea

Instead use map
Western_Europe 1011_8977
delete Cspeech files.
Meta availble

Wont work with my software version, I use 8.302, the last one before they turned the volume down.

They are not equivalent meta's so it won't work (as you've already found out)

You'll need to look for an alternative map or possibly upgrade your navcore

Hi guys, i'm running United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_985.8158

There appears to be no meta for any newer versions, not sure if that is because no-one has donated one or because tomtom has stopped created maps for my device (tomtom one 3rd gen 512MB 4N01.001). Could i use U.K 1010.8891 and delete the cspeech files?

There's been plenty of newer versions since the 985 series...

A new map must be compatible with whatever navcore is installed on your device...read the tutorial:

topic19485.html

I recommend using:

United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland 1010_8950

i'm running navcore 9.5.1.0. I went through the compatibility lists and my 985.8158 is colour coded in brown and looking at the v995 and v1005 charts it has always been in the brown section. The one you linked is in the blue section, are you sure this is correct? Here are more details: viewtopic.php?f=179&t=19662&p=160923#p160923

Ok, checking back I see that Holyhead helped you upgrade your navcore to NC 9.510 a while ago.

The map I suggested would've been the right one for the original NC but being as you've got NC 9.510 you can use any map that we've got a meta code for so the following will be fine:

United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland 1010_8891

As you said before, you can remove the cspeech files as your device doesn't have a microphone anyway
