Re: TomTom v1115 Maps

Hello,

Thanks for all the efforts in detailing available maps, much appreciated.

I was wondering if anyone is able to supply fresh links for Western_Europe 1115_11998, Western_Europe 1115_12003, Western_Europe 1115_12043, Western_Europe 1115_12051, Western_Europe 1115_12053 or Western_Europe 1115_12058. The ones in the list appear to all be dead with "file not found", unless it's me doing something wrong.

It's for a:-
DeviceName=TomTom GO 940 LIVE
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8371
BootLoaderVersion=55120

I'm looking to put the map actually on the device, as the 32GB Micro sdcards that I have seem to not be read by the device. Otherwise I would go for a whole of Europe map.

Thanks in advance

Why are you trying to use a 1 year old map when there are newer (even current 1130's available with meta codes)?
Your device CAN read 32Gb MicroSD cards

Hello biggerdave,

Thank you for the reply. Bear with please, I kind of dip my toe into this once every 6-12 months so a bit rusty.

The reason why I was going for an older map is I thought there wasn't much about to download from for a 1130 map. But..................

I have done some further reading and discovered TTActivator, which, if it does what it says, then no more trying to get working links from file share sites. Yippee!!

I was struggling to get it to work when using Europe West so tried United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland as a test and that downloaded. Now trying just Europe which is also downloading (currently 42%). I need to work out why Europe West doesn't work, but........

If a 32GB micro sdcard does work then the whole Europe map (which will be better) can be used anyway. I couldn't get my device to activate any maps on the micro sdcard. It might be the card, not sure. I'll have a play with what I've downloaded using TTActivator and report back in a day or two.

If bovirus created TTActivator then he/she is a star. Thanks again biggerdave, will report back.

Hello,

I appreciate this may now be in the wrong thread (my apologies) but I am looking for a pointer please.

I have a TomTom Go 940 Live

I have downloaded United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_1130_12304 all fine, the meta code for this map is in the meta file and I have activated it via FastActivate, however this is coming back as an error and the map consequently doesn't work.

From TT_List I have established that this device is a NAV2 device, Serial No.WB, Navcore 9.541. From this I surmise the downloaded map is the correct one, but I'll stand corrected.

Can someone point me in the direction of understanding why the map has an error please? I would have throught that it should work, but I'm plainly missing something. FastActivate info below.
Additionally, I thought Appication was the Navcore, but again I surmise I am wrong as this reports as 8371, however TT_List states 9.541. Does the Navcore require upgrading?

Yes, the application IS the navcore...and yes, it does need updating to minimum 9.0xx in order for the map to work but you should update it to 9.541

You can download the correct navcore direct from TomTom [Please Register or Login to download file]

Do a full backup in Windows Explorer before you proceed, then extract the new NC over the top of your current one on your device, overwriting everything it asks about

After that, patch the new nacore with FastActivate option 3, wait for a patch sucessful message, then activate the map with option 2

Hello fredderf,

Thank you for the reply and clarity regarding Application / Navcore; I thought that was the case from previous playing over the years,. I did wonder regarding upgrading but didn't want to jump in and possibly brick the unit without more wiser opinion.

Thanks for the download link. I have to ask, is it a very slow link, an issue with TomTom's site or is the link just not working? I get the full 100% green bar but then constantly get revolving bubbles akin to Windows BWOD. It's been like that for 10-15 mins. Is this just a patience thing or is something not right?

Hello,

Ignore the previous regarding the link. I pasted the whole link into the browser and the download fired off.

I have the file and will report back.

Thank you

Hello,

Thanks for your help so far.

(Thanks for the additional link biggerdave - that one worked straight off, so I have that download as well, but used the file from fredderf).

Right, I've done all that:-

- copied the cab file to the unit, deleted nothing.
- extracted with 7zip, allowing everything to be overwritten.
- patched device (Option3).
- loaded map.
- activated map.

All reported as ok.

But, when power cycled, TomTom logo comes up, then whitescreen with "Select a map" and both maps listed. Selecting either maps reports:-
"Problem with this map. You cannot use this map on this device: United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-104123" or
"Problem with this map. You cannot use this map on this device: Europe_West-102876".

Not fussed about Europe at the moment as I've not checked it's compatibility (was on device already), but I thought the UK map should have worked.

Any pointers on this?

FastActivate info below for Option 2 & 8 respectively.

Thanks again

xylobe

Forgot to say, one thing that's confusing me is the Navcore reports as 9510 instead of 9541??

Ok, realising my error, I've done all that, again, and this time on the GO 940:-

- copied the cab file to the unit, deleted nothing.
- extracted with 7zip, allowing everything to be overwritten.
- patched device (Option3) - successful
- loaded map.
- reported back as UK map has error, see below (meta is present in meta file [EE BF 9F 30 99 5F 9D 85 2B 35 74 2B 39 0D 46 30])

North America and Europe Central were on device before.
According to the compatability chart, this NAV2 device should take map 1130_12304, so I don't get it.

The micro sdcard is now being seen though as maps on this card are being seen by the device, eventhough I am unable to activate them as I can't select this micro sdcard in FastActivate, either from FastActivate from the main device or by putting a copy of FastActivate on the micro sdcard and running that.

The UK map error is bugging me, but my brain hurts so going to bed. Will have a fresh think tomorrow, unless anyone has any ideas.

Hello,

After correcting yesterday’s errors, I can confirm I have a working unit as follows:-
TomTom Go940 Live

Voice(s):
Complete Map(s):
North_America-18.meta => .dct OK
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-104123.meta => .dct OK
Incomplete Map(s):
Europe_West-103934.meta => .dct ERROR
Speed cameras:
Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2 => .dct OK
Safety_Cam_UK_Premium.ov2 => .dct OK
________________________________________________________________________________
BIF File......F:\TTGO.BIF
KeyGen Type...8
Device Name...TomTom GO 940 LIVE
Application...9541
Bootloader....55120
DeviceID......AKVHCDJB7A
Storage.......Size 3830MB, Free 520MB

Press any key to continue . . .

The North_America -18 map was already on the unit, as was Europe_Central, which I have currently removed to provide some space.

Serial No. WB from List_TT_devices def details this unit as NAV2, confirmed by downloading and activating map United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_1130_12304 which works fine. Therefore my thinking tells me that:-
Europe_West_1130_12303
Europe_West_1125_12189
Europe_West_1120_12089,
which all have available meta’s and I have confirmed are present in the meta file, should work as per Compatibility Chart, in the same way as the UK map. But they don’t. So, sorry to ask but what am I missing please, because I can’t see it? The logic above tells me these maps should work but plainly not. I’ve put each of these maps in the internal memory (one at a time) and they all .dct error when trying to activate.

Also, I can transfer maps between pc and TomTom micro sdcard (32GB FAT32), however the TomTom doesn’t seem to recognise any maps on the card (I’ve put the UK map on it as well as on the TOMTOM internal memory and I would expect the device to list both, but it doesn’t). I’ve also put TTActivator, meta and ttgo on the card as well and the UK map activates fine by running TTActivator on the card. I was expecting to run TTActivator on the internal memory, and that pick up maps on the micro sdcard and activate them that way, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. The UK map does activate by running TTActivator on the micro sdcard though, as said, so I surmise this is the way it is done?

Is there anything else that needs to go on the card, or is there a parameter in a file on the internal memory that needs to be configured to tell the unit to also look at a micro sdcard (something like setting a file path).

I have used 16GB and a 2GB micro sdcard (FAT32) as well, as I’m aware sometimes 32GB cards have issues, but these aren’t working either. Unless it’s a dodgy micro sdcard port/connector.

Thanks for your patience with this, but I’m trying to learn the workings of different units, just to exercise the brain, but I’m out of ideas.

New topic created and posts moved

My preferred setup is to forget about the internal drive completely and just use the 32GB SD card...just copy everything from the internal drive to the SD card and it'll default to that on boot up...it'll make things a lot simpler
