TomTom XL new maps???

Postby Lk1zhm » Wed Jun 26, 2019 9:38 am

"I am a novice in this field, I have a TomTom XL with this card in it "Central_Europe_North_965_7280 " What map of West Europe should I have now to be up to date?"
As I have said I am new here, the question is where can I find the Navcore version?
It's about the TomTom XL and western Europe may be there as well. The card that is now coming up I believe from 2015.

If your device is a GO 920 you can use TT Home to get the latest navcore.
Select a 1030 map to get the latest version.

You've been a member for 3.5 years so you should know that we'd need to know a bit more about your device than that...

Does your XL have an SD card slot...or is it just a 1GB internal storage version?

The reason being, if yours is just a 1GB model, then you're going to struggle to find a modern Western Europe map that is small enough to fit so you might have to lower your expectations and use a Benelux map instead. Only you can answer these questions so download Poteo_Roke's document on the following link and decide for yourself.

Hi Fredderf, being busy. How are you? Doing well here.
I thought Lk1zhm spoke of a 920 in his (old) first post.

"Does your XL have an SD card slot...or is it just a 1GB internal storage version?" Presumably 1GB of internal memory, there is no SD card in it. There is at the bottom "TomTom XL " And it also has "Canada 310 ".

Ok, so you are not so inexperienced at all...and yes, it's a 1GB model

In that case, you can keep your current navcore...although you might have problems with your clock?

Do what I suggested above and look at the document and decide yourself which map will fit

I opted for the Benelux, 1030 9519 But now the GPS Fix stays out for a long time. How can this be?

Europe_West_1GB_1030_9525 this I had already downloaded but gave an error when activating "Could not find the meta. txt " While it was in it.I am indeed not a novice in the field of PC. But TomTom systems is really a stumbling block for me

The Benelux map is ok but you should download the latest version of FastActivate where the GPSFix will work...or you can update GPSFix via TomTom Home software:

topic19452.html

You can only activate maps that have a matching meta code (serial number) which are published on the following page, so it makes sense to look at what meta codes are released first and then decide which map suits you before you download it...doing it the other way round means you waste time downloading a map that can't be activated (as you've already found out):

GPS-Fix Update by TomTom
Home makes no difference I had the XL lying outside on the table and it certainly took 6 minutes before there was a fix.

We were talking about different things...I asked if you have a problem with the clock = no answer

Ok, the main problem you have is the WNRO that you should've received an email about from TT:

[Please Register or Login to download file]

The problem is the Global Locate (GL) chip on your device...there's nothing that can be done about it but there are some workarounds that are discussed here:

topic21253.html

If you do a hard reset (hold power button down for an extended time) you should find that you'll get a sat fix fairly quickly

I have another trick to get a faster GPS fix: change maps. Go to Options, right, change map and simply select map. Takes a few seconds to load and very often it gets a fast GPS fix.

calib.txt is not a standard file on the TT. It can be used to correct a calibration issue but the touchscreen should work without it.
It looks like you got a bigger problem and may have to replace your TT. But, hey, they are cheap second hand nowadays.
