All files have been installed, have meta, updated everything and nope. Could it be that I only have version 80xx? That is why I initially installed an archived version, thinking it would be safer with my old system.

1. Yep. Copied from post 30: "a 7055 map requires navcore 8.2XX or higher"
2. There are 960 maps that are compatible with the 7.9XX navcore.

Update:
Sometimes the impossible comes true and I'm happy to report that I finally got little TT One to work with a new V960 map. The culprit was the old 80xx navcor, so I decided to start anew and install a 954 navcor. After a little patching, it's working and I will give it the actual test tomorrow.
So I'm glad I did not give up and a very big thanks to all the moderators, especially tendriver and also downunder35m, and Razorblatter(Sr.Member).
Long Live Tom Tom One 3rd Edition!!

Well done. Next time it would be nice for you to know how the update procedure works. Navcore, meta code, map version, storage capacity etc.
Just the basic theory to make updating a breeze.

Hey Everyone,
The map is intact and works as supposed to, but when it is using its ram/processor at a higher level (i.e., searching and planning a new location), it jams and then restarts a few times to begin again.
I only have 5MB out of 976 free--since I have a 1GB TT with the new 954 navcore and V960 map, and am wondering if the above problem is caused by lack of memory. If so, can I remove some of the programs safely to free up the memory. I don't need the "skins", which uses 14MB.
Any other suggestions appreciated such as the value of using "windows ready boost" to speed up system.

The 9.540 navcore has got some chinese.xxx file in the root? You can delete that.
You can also take a look at extra voices, zip codes and/or images.

Thank You. So the "skins" should stay?

I'm not too sure about that. I do know there is some 6.x mb MP3 player file which can be removed but I don't know the exact name or location now.
That would free up enough space.

You are confusing your RAM (operating) memory with your ROM (storage) memory. You only have 5MB Free RAM out of 32MB. Taking files out of your 1GB memory won't help you at all. Downunder has done a mod on some 9.XXX navcore for use in 32 MB units. They are in the 9.XXX sub-forum. 9.510 is very popular with the 32MB unit owners.
