Help Needed with a TomTom One

Postby robfraser2004 » Wed Aug 17, 2011 3:09 pm

Hi Guys I’m new to this site and joined after a recommendation from a friend that someone on here may know the answer to my question.

I have been given an old tom-tom one and wanted to update the map or even the os if possible but I’m really not sure how to do this.

Spec.
App5.420 (5643/051108)
OS:1008
30mb RAM
Boot:3.30
GPS V1.21
Current map: Great Britain V605

Try the WinCE 4.2 version, it has no cab for installation but it works fine with my Treo 700w. You need to update your Navigator to 7.9 first though.

You can not use a CE software on a Linux system!
If you don't know what you are talking about it is best not to post wrong answers.

Use TT Home to update you device to latest available NC if you want to stick with the original.
Your device is too outdated to work with the current maps.
After that go here and download the map of your choice, check the chart for the right version that suits your Navcore.
Follow the instructions provided.
Once FastActivate starts klick on update meta and that patch the Navcore and activate the map.

Sorry I was about to correct my post but you beat me to it. I just realized he has a different TomTom One than I do. My navcore only goes as high as 6.030, so there's no way to use these maps? But how come I can buy them from the TomTom official site?

I have just revived an old ONE v1 today. tomtom home does offer to upgrade the navcore & bootstrap and after that I have installed NC9.061 and UK 875_3615 successfully.
I will try and bring it up to current spec when I have time but at least it is working now. I wasted most of the day getting the screen calibrated!

So don't give up robfraser2004 just make sure you back up your original files.

1. Not so. The lowest current official navcore in use today is 7.930!!!
2. Because TT knows what device you have & the current navcore for that device.

My Treo 700w is categorized under TomTom One 30 Series (with 125 and 130) and on their official web they say it's not compatible with Navigator 7. But when I go to buy maps they identify my device as One 30 Series and allows me to buy 8.80 maps, so I'm confused. I tried the WinCE version navcore 7.9 with my WM5 but it doesn't recognize my BT GPS module. Can anyone tell me what I should do?

Which version did you install, and how did you set up the GPS within Tomtom?

Please do us all a favor & avoid more confusion, by only referring to your unit as a Treo 700W.

Ok I installed TTN7.916.9192_QVGA_Blue.cab and it seems to be working now. But I had to configure it to 'other BT gps device' for Nav 7 to recognize my gps, it won't work with TomTom BT gps. Thanks for the help.

Postby destiny246 » Wed Jan 25, 2012 10:51 pm

Hello,

I am a newbie and don't know much about the GPS and how to update it so decided to join you guys. I have a tomtom one v4 (USA) and want to update to the latest navcore and the lastest maps. Please help me. After looking at other posts I updated my navi with home and this is what i got from the navi:

[TomTomGo]
DeviceName=TomTom ONE
DeviceVersionHW=ONE (v4)
DeviceSerialNumber=
DeviceUniqueID=
RamDiskVersion=20081205
BootLoaderVersion=53029
LinuxVersion=2344
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=7903
ApplicationVersion=9183
UserLanguage=English US
UserName=
LastConnectionTime=Never
GPSFirmwareVersion=

And is it possible to put everything on the SD card rather than internal memory.
Thank-you so much to everyone in advance.

What area do you need the map to cover?

Go here: All New Maps 880.XXXX Scroll down to the USA&C maps. Pick 1 of the 3 maps. It doesn't matter which one. Download & unzip.
Go here: FastActivate 24.11.2011 {1.8.8.0} Read the directions. Select the Premium version.
Remove the old map folder & copy in the new map folder.

Run FastActivate per the instructions. Click all 4 buttons one at a time from left to right.

Disconnect & reboot.
