Hi all,

Just joined and spent 2 hours reading and I think I understand how updating works, but I keep getting frustrated by non-existent links to download Fastactivate.

1. I assume Fastactivate patching is NOT required if I download an Install and Patch version of a new map - is this correct?

2. My Navcore is 8.016 (see below for TTGO.bif data) - will 960.7077 UK & Ireland work?

3. If no to 2 above - I will patch navcore to 9.510 modded cab so I can use 980 maps - is this the best idea?

4. Once I have updated UK & Ireland, I want to add Australia - I cannot find a thread anywhere on how to ADD another map. Is this possible?

Download unpack and place files and folders on the one

3) Copie the chosen maps to your one in his own folders.
If you open the map you see the loose files and probably a folder (brand).
Not a map in a map. So in your case you have 2 folders (one UK and one Aus)

4) Copy "FastActivate.exe" to your TomTom device.

You can,t download a patch version of a new map. You aktivate a map but you can download an aktivated map. With a free map
you alway,s have to use FastAktivate. Further you have to patched the navcore (original) with FastAktivate.
If you use an patched navcore you don,t have to patched of course.

Yes but it is already 1 year old and it has no features like Alg etc.

If you have an original navcore cab version then you have to patched it

If there is enough memory then you can place an other map and aktivate them.

Make an backup and delete the one and install the 9.510 DSA 32MB ram. It is already patched.

I've patched 9.510 successfully - copied the Australia map only (UK & Ireland will not download - the download server is too busy) and run Fastactivate - all good.

I restarted unit and get a message "Problem with map. You cannot use this map on this device: Australia-100936".

Please can you advise me?

I noticed that there are 2 download links for Australia
That is a fault you can use 1 download.
If you do exactly what is described in post 2 it must be working.

So it means after a backup delete the one completely and
following post 2

I tried both download links to Australia separately (NOT 2 at once) - both have same error message.

I cannot download the Map United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland.980_7898 link (is offline at server)
but I tried Map United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland.980_7895 - loaded OK but same error message, different code 100933.

I am following your instructions to the letter and am so close! Are the meta data in Fastactivate the correct ones for these maps?

Please can you advise me again?

Let's just check your steps as Holyhead has explained to you:

1. Made a full backup of your original setup using Windows Explorer (showing hidden files & folders)
2. Deleted everything from the device then extracted new navcore 9.510 onto empty device
3. Reset & start device until it says 'no maps found'
4. Extract advised new map(s) to device (noting that each new map is contained within it's own folder)
5. Copied FastActivate.exe to the root of the device
6. Run FastActivate.exe on the device and selected options 2 & 3 (3 should not be necessary but will do no harm)
7. Disconnect & reboot device....job done

THERE IS A PROBLEM REPORTING OFFLINE FILES. IF FILES APPEAR TO BE OFFLINE, THEY ARE NOT. JUST CLICK ON FILE TO DOWNLOAD

H & Fredderf - thank you for your continuing help - I am sorry it is not going well but I so close!

Fredderf - I did everything in that order - the only thing I did not do was press 3. The device successfully reboots but says map cannot be used with device etc. so 9.510 is working I think, just maps is the problem.

I selected "show hidden items" before backing up and deleting the original files on the device - is there an example hidden file I can look for on the device to check that I DELETED them all correctly to start with an empty device?

Downloading is still an issue - the UK file on relink:to is showing offline and clicking it shows unavailable due to server demand too high.
The Dailyfiles link won't work - keeps showing the 120 second countdown but after that there is no button to click to download.
I have the Australia file and am using that to test.

Or do you have some folders in it if yes what is the name of those folders.

The Australia map folder has 16 items - one folder "Brand" and names of 15 files starting
Australia.pna
Australia-100936.meta
cline.dat
......

Opening the Brand sub-folder shows 126 .bmp files of logos.

I think this is a meta problem - does the latest Fastactivate contain the correct meta for the maps version .7898?

I have now got the Daily file link to work and have started again from the beginning - deleted device, added 9.510, rest to "no maps", added folders for UK and Australia, copied Fastactivate, run it with 2 and 3 and rebooted device - FAIL. I still have the same error messages.

The latest FastAktivate has the correct meta codes. I have just done the procedure exacly and the UK and Australian map are
working on a One. For aktivating you can also place the ttgo.bif file and FastAktivate in the map and aktivate. Maybe thats working.
