Hello, I'm new to the forum and looking to get a more recent map update since my current one does not have some streets on them. I'm not really familiar with updating a GPS, but I am knowledgeable on computers so can do something with some instructions.

USA map - English

Yes it is 1GB, I don't believe it has an option for external expansion.
And yes, would just like updated USA map.

After you remove your old map folder, will you have room for a 887MB new map folder?

I have 90 MB free, and my map folder is 854 MB so yes I should have room.

The TomTom Section is now using linkcrypt for our map uploads. Click on a map link and you will be redirected to the first linkcrypt page.
There you will see the word "Authorizing". Below it is a GOLD KEY & 5 black dots. That is a password window. Replace the black dots with the password: navitotal
Then click the blue rectangular Submit button & the second linkcrypt page, containing the filefactory links, will open. Do not choose Mirror!! Happy Downloading!!

Read the instructions, then download & unzip: FastActivate Latest Update 01/02/2015 includes a "Version Updater" tool! topic14003.html

Remove the old map folder from your unit. Copy in the new map folder. Put the FastActivate.exe file in your unit. Run option 2 to patch your new map. Run Option 3 to patch your 8010 navcore. Disconnect & reboot. Done!!

Okay, it will take me some bit to download this map I will post when done to let you know how everything went. Another question is, what is navcore and is there any updates that will work on my device?

A navcore is the GPS operating system like Windows. Let's get you going with a new map, then we can look at upping from 8010.

It gives me an error when I try to patch the map:

Found out why it didn't work, downloading another map that has a meta code.

MY BAD & MY APOLOGIES!! I meant to give you "United_States_940.5993 [887MB]"!!

It's okay, I found it anyway. Updated my navcore aswell, just a big pain to download 5 files from a site that only allows one at a time and a slow speed.
