got another question tho.
my daughter is going to europe for 3 months and i have another xl 335 se unit i wanna give her. well, it's currently loaded with the north_america_2gb map and runs fine. but i want to put the Europe_West_865_3254 OR Europe_West_865_3244 map on her device so she can find her way around if she needs to. i guess it'll work, but am not 100% sure...what you guys say? will it work ok with that map?

I haven't seen a Europe_West_865_3254 map. We do have Europe_West_865_3245 . There is a Europe_West_865_3244 map, but nobody that I know of has it posted.

Did you confirm the size of both files together and each file separatly?

You should uncopress both at same time and confirm the "replace" warning while unconpressing IF it asks about.
If the file size is correct, just use it. Won't arm but first make a full backup of your TT

NO!!!!!!! Unzip Part 1 & Part 2 will auto-unzip with Part 1 producing the complete file.

I did unzip both as the part 1 did not unzip with part 2 as I did not see, but what I did was unziped part 2 and replaced the others so I checked and it seems to work its just a puzzle for me why 2 parts with same file.

Sorry as I keep forgetting to say BIG THANKS for your reply and help as well.

Thanks

I allways select all rar files (except when there are a rar + rar00 + ...) and it goes ok all time.. For instance, the situation above, file1.rar and file2.rar i would select both and choose "unrar here" and thats all

Weird thing. almost 1 year ago, before i got my own device, i had one from a friend which came from usa. I tried to put some europe maps there using megallan site (its a megallan device) and it said NO WAY.. because it was an USA device so no way to use with european maps.. after that, asked a firend about that (he sells gps devices to boat fishing, etc) and he also told me that USA devices don't work here.

I better read those threads posted by Userxy

Thanks for answering you both

When you unzipped part 2, you had to "replace the others", because part 2 had already auto-unzipped when you unzipped part 1. When you zip a file into parts, each part "looks" the same, but they are not the same.

"and confirm the "replace" warning while unconpressing IF it asks about." When you unzip part 1 & let the other parts auto-unzip, there is no "replace" warning.

I have installed Canada_Alaska 865_3245 and traffic doesn't work ! I think that traffic.dat is not correct. Could it be the problem ? I have reseted the gps to reboot clean but I have only the green circle (a radio with rds-tmc is tuned).
Someone can help please ?

You are doing it the hard way. When you unzip part 2, you have to "replace the others", because part 2 has already auto-unzipped when you unzip part 1. Test it by unzipping part 1 only of the DE_AT_CH_and_Eastern_Europe map, then compare the contents in the unzipped folder done your way & the folder done the part 1 only way. They will be exactly the same.
When you zip a file into parts, each part "looks" the same, but they are not the same.
