Having installed the lastest map 865.3245 West/Cent Europe 2G and is working fine in its standard downloaded format.

But cannot install my Favorites from any of my previous maps on my 'TT One'', having done as suggested to add your favourites from the form by add a false favourite to reconfigure the file and then add yours. No matter whether repatched or not with 'fast activate', doing a reset etc.

It keeps looping ???

thanks

TT is XXL 540S, and the version is 9.061, the last one since this week-end.

If you still have your previous map then:

1. Change map (on your device) to the old map
2. Create a new POI (Favourites? or something) with an icon
3. Add your 'current Favorites' to this new POI category
4. Connect your device to your PC
5. Copy this new POI category & icon into your 865.3245 West/Cent Europe 2G folder
6. Delete the "mapsettings.cfg" file in the old map folder
7. Disconnect your device (safely disconnect - Windows connect or Disconnect my device - TT Home.
8. Change map, on your device, to 865.3245 West/Cent Europe 2G and all should be well

OK thanks,

Dont know if done right.
Created a POI category and transfer my favourites one by one to the file. This being created in the Map file.
Copied this OV2 file and Icon into the new map and copied onto SD card.

Now the new map will start, but can't find my favourites or POI favourites using TT.

What I am I doing wrong.

Update:-
I found my POI 'favourites' but have to remember the name of the previous favourite to find it within the POI and select then plan the route. It don't drop down in a list to select as Favourites.

thanks

If you made a backup before the update, just get the file "mapsettings.cfg" from that backup and put it inside you new map folder. That way you'll get your favourites as POI's back to work with new map

Sorry it appears you have not read my threads above, already tried that as done on all previous new maps. But this one keeps looping doing as you say or as the website says how to reconfigure the file ready to add my favourites.

You mean reconfigure the file mapsettings? I don't think that you can do that unless you creat a new one.. And to do that, you would need to add your POI's one by one and your favourit routes and so to the new map.

Let's see if i understood: you got your old "mapsettings.cfg" file (from the old map backup) and pasted it into the new map folder... but then your TT just loop, and loop??

Why don't you try this:

1) delete map folder (new map / new folder) in your TT
2) get the new map folder in your desktop (not the one you deleted from TT but the one from the just downloaded map)
3) get the file "mapsettings.cfg" from the backup and place it inside the map folder in your desktop
4) you have now : a brand new map inside a folder in your desktop and inside you have your old mapsettings.cfg file
5) put that folder from your desktop inside your TT
6) use a patcher software to update meta files and patch map + voices, etc
7) disconnect TT from pc, do a reset on it, then reboot TT
8) test it and see if now everything is working

(you can try to do a reset in your TT and test before you do all things above)

When I use: "Navigate to...", "Point of Interest", "POI near you" or any of the other options (including my last via, a fuel station), I get "Search POI", four most recent POI categories and forward arrow. Pushing the forward arrow gives me my first two POI categories and an on-screen keyboard where I can enter a (partial) category name or push the "Down Arrow" button for an alphabetical list in groups of six starting from the very first, if no partial name entered, otherwise from the partial name onwards. Try "F" at the POI category:" prompt ("Navigate to", "Point of Interest", "POI in xxx", then "F" on TT keyboard. If you don't see the TT Keyboard, there is an option somewhere.

I use "Change Preferences", screen 6, select Latin, then "Large keyboard" (for my big fingers), "QWERTY keyboard".

I am running 9.205.547817.1 with model.txt containing "x40" in the "\Config" folder since last March, but it worked fine when I ran 9.026 and the same model.txt file.

Try it one more time.

  • Take file mapsettings.cfg from your old map folder and place it in your new map folder
  • Connect your Tomtom to Home and choose "Operate my Device".
  • Add a random address or location to your favorites,
  • This will rewrite the file mapsettings.cfg to the right format and you get rid of the re-booting loop without losing your favorites!
Same fix, worded a bit differently.

To get a correct version of this file without loosing your favorites connect your Tomtom to
Tomtom Home and use "operate my Go" to manually add a favorite - you can choose any address you like.
Exit and restart your Tomtom which now has a rewritten "mapsettings.cfg" file.

You will have to look elsewhere, not here. BTW, maps with "Automatic Installer & Patcher" are a Navitotal exclusive.
