FFR, please read post 166 for the correct fix for the looping issue after transferring favorites (mapsettings.cfg) to a new map.

Hamish wrote:1. I tried your method on two separate occasions last year; it did not work for me, but my way has proved to consistently work. I do not need "Recent destinations" nor any of the other baggage in the "mapsettings.cfg" file, I just want to add MY current location to MY POI category, which is then (POI category & icon) easily transportable to any new map. I am aware that it is possible to display the "Add position to Favourites" button to the "Quick menu", but that method produced problems; my way allows me to have multiple favourites - squash clubs, bridge clubs, pubs.... and move them all to a new map.
2. I have not tried using your method twice in the 'the same session' as you recommended for a poster above, which worked for them.

In post #179, you quoted form my post #178:
"1. I tried your method on two separate occasions last year; ...."
So I used a technique recommended by TomTom UK.
2. There is no recommendation of using a method twice in the same session.
