Hi,
This thread looks just like what i'm looking for. The problem starts with me being a complete computer novice. At the moment i have a SD card, Card reader and computer and thats it. Is their any chance you could explain how to get these files on to my TOM TOM Go720, starting at the very begining, like how to save the files and what programe to open them up in?

Many thanks SB

You do not want or need the versions from the link in post 2.

Go here: Latest Europe TRUCK Map Download & Unzip: Europe_TRUCK_880_3845 PW: navitotal

Download & unzip: [Please Register or Login to download file]

Go here: FastActivate 24.11.2011 {1.8.8.0
Read the instructions, then select the Premium version. Download & unzip it.

Put the unzipped map, navcore, FastActive & a copy of your 720's ttgo.bif on the card.
Run FastActivate & click buttons 2 & 3, one at a time.

Put the card in your 720 & boot it.

Hi,
Ive managed to get the files unzipped and onto my SD card. I've followed your instructions and my tomtom isn't working. It just comes up with the TOMTOM GO screen, then loads along the bottom and then goes blank and starts doing it all over again.
Any ideas on how to get it working? Is my TomTom now damaged beyond repair?

Your TT is not damaged at all. If you remove the card, you are back to your original setup.

What size card do you have? What bootloader is on your 720?

Hi,
If i remove my card it just carries on loading then goes to the go screen then over and over again. I've been on with this for 2 days and with all the confusion i forgot to do a back-up so dont have my origional ttgo.bif file. i'm using a 8GB SD Card.

If i go onto the fast-active file in my sd card it goes on-line and come up with a box saying fast active premium-Updated Meta text is dated 05/12/2011.
4 boxes appear,
updated meta.text
Maps/voices/speedcams
ttsystem/PND Navigator
TOM TOM Home

Not sure if i've downloaded the correct fast active file with it being premium?

With the card removed, do a 30sec Hard reset. If there is a .meta.dct & a tmeta.dct in your truck map folder, the map is patched & you don't need a ttgo.bif file right now.

Hi,
I've taken the card out and done a 30sec hard reset. (which i presume is holding down the power button for 30 seconds?) It's doing the same thing, TOMTOM GO start screen, loading screen with picture of the tomtom go on it, then tom tom go screen with a road, after that it goes blank and starts all over again.

No, your 720 has a reset button in a little hole on the bottom of the case.

Hi,
I've tried holding the reset buttom on the base for 30seconds and its still doing the same old cycle.
At the moment i'm not bothered about getting truck to work, i'd be just happy with getting my GO back to normal.

A 720 is a very forgiving device.
If you had a running system on the internal memory and only added a new Navcore/map on your SD than there is no reason why you TT would not boot normal from the internal memory.
Either way you did something wrong or you have not mentioned some steps you've taken on the way.
To get back to the official setup there are two ways:
1. use your backup
2. Use Home to install the official 8.351, I assume the old map is still installed on the internal memory anyway.

The first thing of fixing problems like yours is always a Hard reset followed by the TT clear flash tool.
