basically i have

and i'm trying to look for a map to download and i can't find the version on here as i can only see version like 870 and 880 but not 845
plz help out a noob thx ^^

New maps are released quarterly by TT. The first 3 digits, like 845, are the map edition. The last 4 digits, like 2670, are a version of that edition. 845 edition maps were released in Feb. 2010. The current edition is 880.

would i be able to download and use any of these maps???

Your unit does not have a microphone, so you don't need a version with cspeech/ASR. Your unit can use IQ Routes & ALG.

Your best choice is:

one last question after i downloaded the "North_America_2GB_880_3862 with Automatic Installer & Patcher "
do simply delete the map on tomtom and put the map on it or do i replace it ?
btw i already backed up the tomtom .

Remove the entire US, C & M map folder from your unit, then follow these instructions for the new map.
Automatic Installer & Patcher Instructions:
Maps with “Automatic Installer & Patcher” are a Navitotal Exclusive Product.
Before you begin back up upur SD card. The only two files you need on your SD card are ttgo.bif and ttsystem
You just need to download and run the file on your computer.
1. With your TomTom device plugged in or your sd card in your sd reader and an active internet connection
2. Click on the .exe file [Choose TomTom path or sd path] and click on the [Install] button.
3. Wait until the install process finishes and your new map will be installed and patched.

ah man i got stuck again
now for some reason when i connect my tomtom to my computer i can't access the files but it still charges the unit.
so now i can't even put the files into tom tom now ...
is there anything i can do ??????? the normal message when u connect the usb to gps saying do u want to connect to computer does not pop out no more.
i forgot to mention that i installed the wrong map and it didn't work so i deleted everything on tomtom and used my back up to recover it i guess its after that it wont load when i connect to the computer...

Press the reset button.
Connect to PC.
Turn on the TT.
Now it should connect directly to your PC.

i reset it and it still wont connect ...
any other tips ?

Take everything off of your unit again (DO NOT FORMAT the unit) , then try to connect to your puter.

there is a problem with that though i can't connect to the computer : (
at all . when i turn on tomtom and connect to computer it just charges the gps and doesnt ask me if i want to connect to the computer like before.
and i tried the reset thing and it still can't connect to the computer at all.

DUH!! If it will do a complete boot up, not connected to your puter, go Main Menu, Change Preferences, Reset Factory Settings.

i did as followed and it still wont connect .
i tried not connected to the computer holding power button and main menu to factory setting and it still wont do it .

If I read you correctly, you can boot & use the device, but can not connect to your puter. If this is correct, then I would suspect a bad cable receptacle on the unit, a bad cable or a bad USB port.
