map on device and sd?

Postby phatbear » Fri Jan 27, 2012 11:32 am

Chaps,

Thanks to this site and a lot of reading i've finally managed to update my one xl with much newer uk maps, the maps and all the necessary bits are on the device as opposed to the sd card.

However I'm off to the states soon and im just in the process of downloading the US maps, given the size these obviously wont fit on my device so 'll be putting them on an sd card.

So my qestion is this, will the map run from a blank sd card or does something else have to be on there to make it run?

Cheers for now

For an XL you will need a Navcore and map on the SD.
I suggest you get 4GB SD, copy the stuff from the internal memory on the SD and replace the map folder with the US map of your choice.
Use Fast- or AutoActivate to activate the map.

Great thanks for the speedy reply.

One other question you say copy the internal memory to the sd card etc, however do i then delete whats on the internal memory once the items are placed on the sd card or leave them in situ?

May as well leave them there. With the SD card in, the unit will boot from that & ignore the internal anyway.

If you keep the internal as it is you can use the SD to put the map(s) on you don't need every day, or simply use it as a backup.

Just in case: if it is a SDHC you need at least a bootloader version 5.5112 otherwise your TT won't see the SDHC.

All of the North America, North America 2GB, United States & United States 2GB maps + navcore will fit on a 2GB card. The map that you can use depends on which navcore you have.
