need help? with united kingdom and ireland

i just downlaoded the united kingdom and republic of ireland map installer and patch.

890.4234 was the number on the file, i read the instructions and it said just install/run it onto the tomtom?

i have a totom xl 335.t

ran the program and installed it onto my tom tom gps. no problems with that.

i unplugged the gps from the computer and turned it it on.

the gps asks to choose a map; i choose the united kingdom and ireland and then the gps says the map is no good?????

i read some insructions about navcores and i am very confused.

also, i cant open *.rar files???

i am still in texas so maybe thats why its no good?

will it work once i get to ireland?

any help is greatly appreciated, i am leaving on friday morning.

i really hope someone can point me in the right direction, i will be lost without my gps over there

1. Your gps has never said "the map is no good" What did it actually say??
2. Can't open what .rar files??
3. It doesn't matter whether you are in Texas or Timbuktu, if everything is done correctly, you can select the map & see it.
4. I can't help you without knowing your model & navcore.

It might be a good idea to do some reading (like our tutorials) before messing with something you know nothing about ;)

4. - that's what I mean by "helping us" - there is a Linux bootscreen and the ttgo.bif, both will give you info about the NC on your device

i opened the ttgo.bif file with notepad program, this is what it reads below:

i have tried to read and do searches but my connection is kind of slow and i am running out of time to get this device working by thurs nite.

i managed to get it working from this site last year, but that file i saved last year gave me the same problems now, same message, problem with map you cannot use this map on this device

it worked great last year..

1. You have the wrong map. You want UK&ROI 890.4222. 890.4234 has no features. 890.4222 is full featured.

3. This is a patching issue. If there isn't a file ending in .meta.dct in the map folder, then the map is not patched. The navcore (operating system) must also be patched, if not prevously patched.

when i right click on my tomtom, and look at the properties, it only has 1.91 GB.

is there a smaller file available?

UK&ROI 890.4222 is only 214MB. How much smaller do you want??

i downloaded the UK&ROI 890.4222 and installed it onto the tomtom and i get the same message:

i looked in the map folder and i do not see a file ending in .meta.dct, so i assume i need to do some sort of a patch? and how do i patch the navcore?

i am running out of time its dreadful

Go here: FastActivate Premium 1.8.8.9 Read the instructions. Download & run FastActivate. Just click the left button, titled Maps/Voices/Speedcams. Check the map folder for the file ending in .meta.dct. If there, disconnect & reboot.

That is basic knowledge that you need before starting ;)
You cannot run a RAR file, you have to use Winrar to unpack it.

UNZIP the .rar file & THEN run FastActivate.

halaleua!!!! i downloaded a RAR opener and by the grace of the lord i got the map to work after pressing a bunch of the button, patched the navcore, what ever that is and it works.
