problem with maps

Postby nomad71 » Wed Sep 26, 2012 8:52 am

Im beaten, I have a tomtom go520 lets call it tomtom 1 as I have 2 of these,1 works fine which is tomtom 2 whereas tomtom 1 does not, hopefully you can follow this. tomtom 1 details- 520 app 7.221 64MB ram gps v1.21 boot 5.5120 with uk an roi map on and all works ok. tomtom 2 which again is a tomtom go520 details-sd card, app 8396 64MB ram gps v1.20 boot 5.5229 map truck 880_3845, now all works fine on tomtom 2. what the problem is and I have done this before, I copied truck maps onto a 4gb sd card put it into tomtom 1 went thru the menus to choose a map and like normal it said there is a problem with truck maps, so i pulled the sd card out and put it in laptop and used fast activate to patch the map, it said it has and was ok, but when i went thru the process again inserting it into tomtom 2 and it still said there was a problem with the map, however it works in tomtom 1 so I know the map is working fine, Is there something I am not doing? or not doing right? As the weirdest thing is that i have done it this way before.

880 is old 895 is current.
Delete all .dct files from the map folders befoe using FastActivate and make sure to have the correct ttgo.bif for the device.

I deleted the .dct files in the maps then run fastactivate and still got the cannot use truck maps, although it is using the truck navcore! is there any other file to delete? I deleted the ttgo.bif to see if that made any difference, but did not.

A quick look into the tutorials.....
The ttgo.bif is created at every start of your TT, so if you delete it FA can not activate anything as it can't find your device ID.

Request. Let's put the working 520 aside and concentrate on the non-working 520.
Current Truck navcore is 8.398. A pre-patched version can be downloaded here: V8 & V9 Navcores. It can be loaded into the internal memory or a SD card.
Current Truck map is Europe Truck 895.4448. It is 2525MB & must be put on a SDHC card 4GB or larger.
If you put both navcore & map on the 4GB card, put the card in the 520 & attempt to boot it, to create a ttgo.bif file, that Downunder alluded to. Once you have the required ttgo.bif file, patch the map with FA 1.8.9.0.
To patch the map with no navcore on the card, add FA 1.8.9.0. & the ttgo.bif file to the card & run FA.
You might already know most of this, but it was easier for me to explain it this way, than in bits and pieces.
