Regarding updating TTXXL IQ Routes Edition and One3rd Editio

Postby 001stunna » Tue Jan 03, 2012 12:05 am

I've got two TT; the XXL IQ Routes Edition & a One 3rd Edition

Current specs for each are as follows:
XXL IQ Routes Edition (has Text To Speech for road names etc)
Device XXXXX XXXXX APP: 9.061.576030.2 OS 567329
64MB RAM
GPS V1.20; BOOT 5.5279
MAP USA_CANADA_AND_MEXICO_P V860.3121

ONE 3RD Edtion (does not have Text To Speech for road names etc)
Device XXXXX XXXXX
APP: 8.016 (9380/080825) OS 223986
32MB RAM
GPS V1.21; BOOT 5.5022
MAP USA_AND_CANADA V815.2022

Using TomTom home they have both been updated as far as it can go without purchasing new maps from TT, What i was hoping on getting some help on is regarding the latest stable map that can be installed on each of these. Would the navcore require updating as well or no?

Cheers

You can install the new 880 maps with no problem on your devices.
Either use the normal maps and follow the instructions in the map thread or use the maps with installer.
Your XXL can use the full featured maps, while the ONE needs maps without Cspeech, ALG and IQroute - please check the chart in the map thread for compatibilty.
For the XXL I suggest a 880.3810 map and for the ONE a 880.3866 or 3968 map, even the 3811 should work fine.
Use FastActivate premium to activate the map and to patch the Navcore.

Thank you both, and no Mexico coverage is not needed. I just assumed updating a map with a newer version of its own might avoid issues.

1. OK. Follow Downunder's advice for your map selection.
2. No. You can use a map for any country or area, as long as the size and version are compatible with your computer & navcore.

Would it matter if the 3811 map mentions it supports Cspeech and ASR but the device currently doesnt have it???\..in regards to the one3rd map update. I was looking at North_America_880_3811 with Automatic Installer & Patcher

1. 3811 is a bad choice. It has features that you can't use & it doesn't have features that you can use.
2. Maybe I'm missing something here. It appears you are saying put NA 3811 (1.682GB) on your ONE (1GB).

I looked at the 3811 for the one3rd due to the reccomendation above, along with the fact that its the only that offers me both Canada and the US. Unfortunately it seems i missed the biggest aspect that it would not fit on the device.

I did try something though, i connected both devices to TTHome to see what it would reccomend as the latest version of map(s) be compatible with each and this is what it gives me...but looking at the map compability chart in here it says that 3862 doesn't support TTS(with regards to the XXL):scratch_one-s_head_

TOMTOM XXL

^those versions above is what maps TTHome offers me to buy/upgrade to if i was to ACTUALLY buy the new map. What i was saying is that according to TTHome those maps are what i can install but according to the Map Chart on here they are not supposed to work with my devices.

According to the Map Chart for the XXL 3862 has no Cspeech/ASR but somehow thats what version TTHome offers me to buy/install.
As for the 3868 for the ONE3rd, 3866/3867/3868 should all be working according to the Map Chart but TTHome only offers me 3868 to buy/install.

Nevertheless...i tried what downunder suggested and used a 880.3866 map for the One3rd. Everything all good and installed but even thought i used all 4 options to patch it still tells me the map cannot be used on my device.

What i tried pretty much was...
Backup whats in the device
Download map->extract map
Erase device map folder and transfer over new map folder
Use Fast Activate on all four options
Attempt to use device but states map cannot be used.

1. YES, I know. The 2 maps in post 8 are the 1s that I am recommending to u. Where do you see on the Map Chart on here they are not supposed to work with my devices.

2. a. That is correct. Even thought 66, 67 & 68 are for different models, they will run on any model, except models w/ nc v10 or v11. When installed, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference in them.

3. You map is not patched.

-For the ONE3rd i understand that 3868 should work, and something isnt going as it should with the map patching.
-For the XXL though the map chart for 3862 says NO(Cspeech/ASR) YES(IQRoutes/ALG)...however my unit supports reading street names...but the 3862 map from what i understand doesn't support speech???
-Lastly, am i going about the wrong way on how to patch the map or am i missing something here???
I've made a backup of the device
Now i even tried fully wiping the device and let it update from TTHome
I turned the device on and used it doing some route planning allowing it to generate whatever files need be
I also ran it through TTHome "Operate my TomTom" option
I erased the stock map folder and copied over the downloaded map folder
I copied fast activator in the root folder and run it...running each of the four functions and giving them time to all finish.

In the end i still get the map not working for this device error

1. a. The map chart is correct.
b. You are correct.
c. You are wrong in your understanding. Cspeech/ASR is for you to talk to your unit, not TTS!!!
2. OK.
3. We never use TT Home for updating navcores or maps.
4. Good. This allowed the unit to create a ttgo.bif file, that is needed to patch the map.
5. This was of no benefit.
6. OK.
7. OK.
8. Look for a .meta file & a .meta.dct file in the new map folder. No .meta.dct = no patched map.

Well i guess that is my issue then...i have a USA_and_Canada-482.meta file but no meta.dct. Looking at the backup i do see that the stock map had both.
Is the FastActivator supposed to generate the meta.dct file? or how would i go about it?

PS. You've been a great a help from the start; and thank you for all your time:thumbup:

Edit: Reading and searching around and i ran into a guide using the TomTom Keygen 4.1D to patch the map...trying that in a bit

1. Yes.
2. Confirm that there is a ttgo.bif file in the root. If so, put a copy of it & FastActivate in the map folder. Run FA & only click the map button. If no, copy the one in your backup & follow the same instructions.

Got it all working and managed to updated the XXL, ONE3rd and a GO 730.
Thanks for all the help. Somehow running the patchers by selecting "run as administrator" actually made them do their work.

Thanks.
