Setting up a new Tomtom go730 with Aus map

Postby dilbadoon » Sun Mar 11, 2012 3:05 am

Having all sorts of trouble trying to set up my new toy! Just got a new 730 from the US, it came with the US map installed, I carried out all the navcore upgrades through tomtom home, and then deleted the US map and tried to install an Aus one.

1st I tried the 885_4021 aussie map, Fast activate does not seem to recognize this to patch it (i also tried copying ttgo.bif file into map folder as suggested in another thread, made no difference). So then I tried the 875 map folder that had been running fine on the old GO720, I just copied the map folder from a backup I had made of the tomtom. Now fast activate recognizes that and updates it ok, but when I turn on the tomtom it says "can not use this map with this device". Any ideas where I am going wrong?

Current specs:
TTGO.BIF:
DeviceName=TomTom GO 730
DeviceVersionHW=GO 730
BootLoaderVersion=55120
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9401
ApplicationVersion=862279.1
CurrentMap=
CurrentMapVersion=0.0
TTGO.BAK:
Not Found...
TTGO.ORI:
Not Found...
TTNAVIGATOR.BIF:
Not Found...

1. FastActivate works fine on the AU 4021 map. I patched a copy of it 2 weeeks ago.
2. To use this method, put FA in the folder also.
3. This message plus the lack of a map showing up in lines 6 & 7 of the ttgo.bif, tell us the map is not patched.
4. You don't mention patching the 9.401 navcore.

Thanks for the response. I have not patched the navcore, wasn't sure about that. What is the easiest way to do that? Do I just download the file from the v9 navcores thread and copy them all onto the tomtom?

You official NC is the 9.401, so simply use FastActivate to patch it.

All fixed! Thanks for your help guys, patched the navcore with FA no trouble, and figured out why the map wasn't working. I had an old version of FA, (1.8) so updated to 1.8.8.3 and it recognised and patched the map straight away, all working fine now.
