TomTom Start can't install maps

Sun Jul 15, 2012 6:58 pm

Hi,

I have a TomTom Start (Type 1EX00, version 9.057 installed) but i have lots of troubles installing another map to it.
I have done many different types of TomTom before but never had any problem installing a map.
The problem i have is that i am trying to install a german roadmap on my Start, at the moment i only have Benelux installed.
When i install the map (i tried 885/890 maps) everything goes fine but when i boot up my Tomtom and try to change the map it crashes or even when i try to put in a route it crashes straight away.
I tried to remove the Benelux map and just install the German map but then the TomTom gets stuck at the black boot screen, so doesn't work either.
I used these metacodes:
60 EF 9C 94 4E 41 72 3D AE 98 A6 4F 1E 1E 0F AD Benelux-562.meta ; Benelux 890_4222
62 B7 A6 21 49 49 90 0F B4 7D 43 0D FF 9B D7 E6 DE_AT_CH-562.meta ; DE_AT_CH 890_4222

Have you confirmed that the navcore & maps are actually patched?

Yep, see attached pic....

I guess you removed the ID from the pic, otherwise I would wonder....
Delete the .dct files inside the map folder, use the correct ttgo.bif and activate the maps again.
Not sure if it was fixed in the current version of FA but sometimes it does not overwrite existing .dct files- giving you the ok because they are present.
So if the existing .dct files are incorrect they won't always be replaced with correct ones.

Do you know why there are 4 copies of your ttgo.bif in your post 1?

That happens when je run: TTCurrentConfig.exe it adds up everytime you run the program....

Did some more research and copied back my original backup and everything works again, except for the change map button, if i hit that button it crashes and restarts.
Original map is Benelux 840.2562 and that works just fine.... i think there might be a bug or something in the fastactivate program or i must be doing something completely wrong and i just can't seem to see it..

Same problem here, i cannot get the Benelux 890-4222 map activated.
I already deleted the .dct file and used Fastactivate and also EasyDCT-II. In both cases the exe's are making a new .dct file but when ik startup the Go730 i getr the message that i can not use this map on this system.

DeviceName=TomTom GO 730
DeviceVersionHW=GO 730
DeviceSerialNumber=**********
DeviceUniqueID=***********
RamDiskVersion=20120321
BootLoaderVersion=55256
LinuxVersion=842337
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9430
ApplicationVersion=890926.1

I deleted the serialnumbers manually, the * are not normally in the .bif

Can anybody give me some advice?

Have you patched the 9.430 navcore?

Fri Aug 17, 2012 12:56 pm

Fastactivate 1.8.9.0 says: Your navcore have been Patched already.

OK. Where did you get 9.430?

What i don't get is that the first time i 'upgraded' my Go730 i had to install the bootloader separatly and the the navcore. If now i extract the .cab in my internal memory and overwrite the existing files, i end up with a higher bootloader version. Is this now included in the .cab?
