Thanks for the assist!

I had another issue with the replacement SD card (2GB), which I'll add here in case it helps anyone else. I copied all the files from the original 256MB card onto my PC (running 32-bit Vista) via the card reader without a problem, but when I put the 2GB card (Scandisk) into the slot, it switched the card reader off. Completely - the 4 removable drives normally shown under 'My Computer' disappeared. The only way to get them back was to disconnect the power lead to the PC and then restart (Note: shutdown/restart did not work, power had to be physically cut).

I tried updating drivers automatically and got the usual 'drivers are up to date' message.

I ended up doing a manual update, selected the 'browse' option and was shown a compatible 'hard disk' driver. Nothing to lose so I gave it a try. Hey presto - card/reader work perfectly. So does the updated TT - so thanks again for your help.

In UK, Power-off not working implies something is still live. By default, UK uses single-pole (turn off live only) switches, so if live/neutral are switched (in plug or socket) the appliance don't turn off.

Gleaned by touring Europe with caravan; Italy is particularly creative when it comes to providing power points.

Good evening to everyone. I always used Western Europe (and not Europe west). In my opinion it is the best solution for everyone that wants a map of Europe and will never go to Russia driving from Portugal... 2gb are enough for this.
Does anyone of the forum knows how to get Western Europe 875.3613?

Thanks a lot

The appliance may remain live, but.......

I'm sorry to say you are wrong in your summation that "the appliance don't turn off." once the circuit is broken then the item will turn off regardless of you breaking the positive or negative cable.

However, "Hard Re-booting" by turning off the power is the quickest way of corrupting Data, HDD and especially the likes of SD Cards.

You are right. I should have said "the live wire remains live".

"Retired chemical engineer of a great many years" - knew enough chemistry to confuse an engineer, enough engineering to confuse a chemist and (just) enough about electricity to avoid frying myself.

It seems there is a problem with part 7 of the central_europe 875.3613 map.

When your download for that part is ready and you click on "download" nothing happens. You have to wait 30 seconds again, if you are a free user, and when your download is again ready the same thing happens.
Over and over again.
