TomTom Current Config for newbies {29.09.2011} by PiEtu is a new version that now supports TTNavigator.bif.

Thanks for the reply,
I downloaded the link YomNav from this site but I am unsure which version it is,
I downloaded different maps (United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_875_3675 with Automatic Installer & Patcher
; United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_875_3675
C3 81 0B 48 2D E9 6B 09 43 FE 8F E5 9B 99 46 36 United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-424.meta) and these have loaded onto the sd card and I can see them.
I thought I had it beaten but not so. I have mapped to \SDMMC\TomTom\TomTom Navigator.exe but the TomTom wont start.
I have gone from a state yesterday where the TomTom software started but found no maps to today where the maps are on the card but the TomTom software won't run.
Any help or ideas will be gratefully appreciated
All the best

What is the difference between yesterday and today? If you've put Tomtom on a SD card, You may need a SHELL.ini file as well.

Open Notepad on your PC and type...
\SDMMC\Tomtom\Tomtom Navigator.exe <- Path to Tomtom
...And save as SHELL.ini NOT SHELL.ini.txt, otherwise it won't start.

This thread here has everything you need.

Various sources around the 'net say Tomtom is possible on this device.

United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_875_3675 is what i have so it works, Make sure the map files (Cline.dat etc) are one folder level away from the root of the card.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
I saved the file in the TomTom fokder on the sd card andjoy of joys it started.
Unfortunately when it got past the TomTom start screen it said no maps found.
I clicked the next button and it said'Welcome You can download 1 free map of your choice and experience GPS navigation.
I think this thing hates me. I can see the maps and yet they still aren't seen by the TomTom software.
Any ideas please..........before I lose the will to live.
Thanks for all your help

Ok the no maps found error message is a tricky one, usually a registry edit sorts it, but not in every case.

But before that, Check the sd card file structure looks like this...

Note * is what your PC calls your card reader

*:\Navigator\Tomtom Navigator.exe
*:\United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_875_3675\Cline.dat + more
*:\ttnavigator.bif
*:\AutoActivate.exe <- Only needed for map activation
*:\SHELL.ini <- Device specific file

90% of the time users have this...
*:\United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_875_3675\United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_875_3675\Cline.dat + more
Or i've also seen...
*:\United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_875_3675\United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_875_3675.rar/.zip

Also are you using the version of Tomtom from the tutorial thread above?

A little bit more progress

Postby 7omly » Thu Sep 29, 2011 10:21 pm

I have managed to get TomTom started thanks to Fatboyfun's excellent Tomtom 7 install guide.
Unfortunately (I seem to use that word a lot) I have hit another snag.
When TomTom starts I get a screen saying 'Activation failed, Sorry, this is not the correct activation code for the product 'United _Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland'.
If anyone has any idea as to where to go from here I'd be grateful.
Thanks and all the best

Yes your map is not patched, you must use a card reader, do not leave the card in the device and connect with a usb cable. some users have problems with win 7 64 bit

Thnaks for the info.
I can't believe how stupid I have been, I had it all working and I didn't make a back up, (I guess I was just so excited at getting it working).
I removed some of the voices That were no use to me and now when TomTom starts I get a memory error message.
I think I have been here before.
Again any help (for a fool such as I) will be much appreciated.

You will always get at least one memory error, on the first run and after the map folder has been changed.

Trying to use other versions than 7.450 or 7.910 usually results in failure, 7.450 is the most compatible, and is what I recommend. The newest version is not always the best with WinCE.
