Current official navcore for your unit is 9.510. TT Home will install it for you.
920.5241 = current 960.7056.

What did you do to activate the map?
Does your XXL also indicate BootLoader 10012 when you reset the device and hold the on/off button long enough for the white text to appear on a black blackground?

1. We know the navcore has not been patched, but we don't know about the map.
2. TT Home "Operate my device" will always show BL 10012, regardless of the actual BL.

Aargh, sounds familiar.
Check if files are not read-only.

You can just select files in Windows File Explorer, right-click the selection and choose Properties.
Uncheck read-only if applicable and then OK.
Do this for the files in the root folder and in the country map folder.
Excellent tip from tendriver! (No surprise there)
Also, if still not solved, try the clear flash tool. That has helped me out a few times when I was out of my wits.

You have not patched TomTom Home?
Then you get the error cannot us map in TTH.
Your TT does start up with the new map?

TT Home "Operate my device" is just an emulation/simulation and is not a valid source for troubleshooting!!!

hello again well ive downloaded 960.7056 map i then formatted tomtom updated it via tt home then placed map and postcode zip on root of tom tom along with fast activate.
then ran fast activate. when i update meta.txt i dont get any kind of confermation but when i patch the map it says map meta ok ive tried running clear flash and still no good. tomtom gets as far as set the time screen and then reboots.
i will add that when i got my hands on device map had been deleted so ive never had it.
if i hold power button down under start up mode it says power down.
please reply as if u are teaching a child as this has had me going round and round.
