AU 905_4754 with FastActivator 05/03/2013 - failed to create

Postby bxox » Thu Mar 07, 2013 10:14 am

Hello
I downloaded Australia 905.4754 and Fastactivate 5/3/2013 version, which came with 'integrated meta.txt' in the .rar file. I could see the Australia-710.meta codes appeared in 'integrated meta.txt' so I thought every should be ok.

Ran fastactivate.exe on the E:\ drive, it went through and created all the .dct files for other maps (on the attached Tomtom), but did not create the .dct file for 905.4754. This is very strange since the meta code for 905.4754 is now available.

Can someone please point out what step I missed ?
Many thanks.

My device is XXL IQ.

Put FastActivate & a copy of your device's ttgo.bif file in the AU 4754 folder. Now run FA Menu item 1 to update the meta.txt file. Then run FA to patch the AU map.

Copied ttgo.bif into AU 4754 then ran FA. Still no .dct file created. I even tried FA from both e:\ root and AU 4754 folder.

When this happened to previous map updates, ie. 805 or 900, I waited a week or two for the next version of FA and everything worked afterwards.

1. Put FastActivate & a copy of your device's ttgo.bif file in the AU 4754 folder. Run FastActivate "Update meta.txt". Now run FA to patch the AU map.

2. Previously the posted FastActivate version updates were all the same FastActive with an updated meta.txt. The current FA version has a meta.txt updater built in as Menu item #1.

Here was what I did:
1. Copy FastActivate.exe & a copy of e:\ttgo.bif into AU 4754 folder.
2. From the directory e:\AU 4754, ran FastActivate "Update meta.txt".
Menu got displayed. I chose #2 to Patch maps.
Message displayed: 1. Enter your TomTom drive letter listed below.
After about 30sec, message shown "** File TTGO.BIF or TTNAVIGATOR.BIF not found **" blah blah. Press any key to continue.
I pressed Enter and the menu was shown again.
Quit.
3. From root directory e:\, ran FastActivate.
Menu got displayed, I chose # 2 to patch maps.
All existing maps on the TomTom displayed " ... -> .dct OK", except for the new AU 4754.
press any key.
quit.

I'm lost :)

Download & unzip FastActivate 07.03.2013. Copy FastActivate.exe into the AU 4754 map folder. The meta is current & contains the meta code for the AU 4754 map. Copy the ttgo.bif file into AU 4754, unless it is still there from previous attempts. Run FA to patch the map.

I downloaded FastActivate 09.03.2013 and followed the steps to run FA. All maps but AU 4754 got patched successfully.

I then downloaded "Albert's EasyActivator 6.14 (01/02/13)" on this forum. I left the META.TXT in e: root, as well as the ttgo.bif file.

I ran EasyActivator, a number of errors came up but, I was surprised it actually created the .dct file for AU 4754. Still EasyActivator did not patch the Speedcams, which I manually copied over from another recent map.

It's time to test the new AU 4754 map.

I restarted the TomTom and switched map to AU 4754 and it accepted it without complain.

I noticed the Speedcams 07.03.2013 is now available. I plan to download it and give it a try. Maybe the is now .dct file, FastActivate might patch the speedcams files.

Many thanks to tendriver for suggesting different things for me to try.

To make sure that there was not a problem with AU 905.4754, I downloaded & unzipped it. I followed my simple instructions in post 2, post 4 & post 6. Each time, FastActivate patched the map perfectly as advertised.
This conformation that the downloaded map was not the problem & that FastActivate was not the problem, can only lead us to 1 conclusion.

I'm using the same map and can also confirm, neither the map nor FA are having any problems with it.
By the way: copying all three files for the cams will result in already activated cam files.

Solved. It's user problem. I was running under a Windows XP account which I thought had all Administrative privileges, but apparently something missing. I logged in using the Administrative account that had worked before with FA and it worked as described instructions given.

The clue was at some point I reported when I chose menu #2 to patch, FA tried to locate the drive and came back 30sec later saying something like TTGO.BIF not found. Somehow under that Windows XP account, FA was prevented from seeing the E: drive. Windows had not problem allowing me to copy the AU 4754 files & FA over.

Anyway, it was a user problem. No issue with both FA & the map.
Cheers.

Thanx for the update. FFR, to run FA as Administrator, right click FastActive.exe & click "Run as Administrator".
