Hi,
Looks like I've got a problem.
I copied FastActive together with the Meta.txt file into the Root of my SatNav. I install the SD Card with both Maps I wanted to Patch (Europe & USA ), then ran FastActive and patched the Navcore first then the Maps. I also had a legit Map, Iberia, in the Satnav memory.
During the Map patching FastActive mentioned an incomplete Map.
When finished I ejected the Satnav and booted it up. When booted it asked for a map and the choices were the Iberia map in memory & the USA map but niether map would work, both were rejected by the Satnav, so even the legitimate map wont work.
Any Ideas,
Do I need to restore a backup?
regards,
Dave

What were the messages concerning the maps that FastActivate gave you and do you have meta.dct files in the map folders?

This applies to an official unpatched GO 530 navcore. Click the right hand blue box at the bottom of the navigation page (map page). Look for a small box titled "version 9.XXX, in the lower right side of the page that opens. Click it. You should now see your data page.

Run
TomTom Current Configuration {13.11.2011} again & post the results here.

The only thing missing is the data in the 2 current map lines, which 99 out of 100 times means that the map/maps is/are not patched.

Hi,
Tried again to Patch the maps but still no joy.
When I connected the TomTom to the computer I could see the TomTom but not the inserted SD card which holds the maps. The SD card I'm using is a 16GB Class 10. So I copied the ttsystem & ttgo to the SD card with the maps and ran FastActivate from the SD card, It seemed to work OK as this is the report from FastActive :-
Voices(s):
Complete Maps:-
Europe-817.meta => .dct OK
USA_Canada-817.meta => .dct OK
Bif File N:\TTGO.BIF
KeyGen Type 8
Dev Name TomTom GO 530
Application 9510
Bootloader 55265
Device ID AK8S..........
Storage Size 15360MB, Free 12850MB
When I installed the card into the TomTom the TomTom could only see the Iberia map in internal memory & the USA map on the SD card and I got the message the I couldn't use the maps on this device.
I'm not sure what to do next.
I ran the configeration program again and it's the same as previous ie:-
TTGO.BIF:
DeviceName=TomTom GO 530
DeviceVersionHW=GO 530
BootLoaderVersion=55256
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9510
ApplicationVersion=1234792.1
CurrentMap=
CurrentMapVersion=0.0

TTGO.ORI:

TTNAVIGATOR.BIF:

Is the Navcore not patched, even though I ran the FastActive and it said that the Navcore was already patched? Any idea why the internal Iberia map cannot be used as I also ran FastActive with the SD card removed and it said the Iberia map was patched!, is it because I haven't got the Meta for the map as it was pre-installed when I bought the Satnav

Dave

Is there anyone on the forum able to help with my problem? I've followed the instructions that I've either been given or from the stickies and have ended up with a useless Satnav. I know that it is all done at my own risk but I did think I would have had a bit more help in the event of things going wrong. If there's nothing that can be done then please tell me so.
Regards
Dave

Don't worry, you got help and you will get help.
And your TT is not useles. You'll get it running.
It seems a bit strange to me that you've stated to have installed both US and Europe map but the total occupied space on you're SD is only 2,5 GB.

Hi Razorblatter,
just checked with Windows explorer and it says Used space 4.21GB Free space 10.7GB so must be something on Satnav.Will check again when I come back. Must go to shops with betterhalf first. Your must be in UK as you appear to be on the same time zone as me in Tenerife

No, I'm the one holding a permanent finger in the dyke in the netherlands.

Since above post I re-ran Fastactive on the SD card and the result is:-
Voices(s):
Complete Maps:-
Europe-817.meta => .dct OK
USA_Canada-817.meta => .dct OK
Bif File N:\TTGO.BIF
KeyGen Type 8
Dev Name TomTom GO 530
Application 9510
Bootloader 55265
Device ID AK8S..........
Storage Size 15360MB, Free 11049MB
I remember now since the previous post I copied maps on to another SD card to see if it would make any difference but it didn't, so the data above is from the new card which is patched as you can see but the TomTom can still only see the Iberia map on the device and the USA map only on the SD card. The following is the readout from FastActive from the SD Card which includes ttgo & ttsystem files on the SD card.
ttgo.bif:
DeviceName=TomTom GO 530
DeviceVersionHW=GO 530
DeviceSerialNumber=J1xxxxxxxxxx
BootLoaderVersion=55256
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9510
ApplicationVersion=1234792.1
CurrentMap=
CurrentMapVersion=0.0
Map(s):
N:\Europe_915_5074\
N:\USA_Canada_915_5074\
Storage:
Size 15360MB, Free 11049MB
I connected the device to the computer again with the SD card inserted and this is the readout when I select activate maps, as you can see there is no mention of the SD Maps and no mention of free space etc on the SD card, also the storage has only used 450MB for the Iberia Map!
Voices(s):
Complete Maps:-
Iberia-35.meta => .dct OK

Radar_ES_TomTom.ov2 => .dct OK

Lastly when I select Patch Navcore, message: Your Navcore have been patched already.

It seems to have a great misunderstanding on how the things work ;)
1. it does not matter if you have a TT with an SD inserted sonnected or if you use a few card readers - FastActivate will only search in the drive where you start it, same for all other keygens I used so far.
2. if a ttgo.bif and activated map is present on a SD a proper GO (not the 300 or 500) will be able to use both the internal an the SD memory
3. "seeing" a map is a bad term.
4. to use a new map if old maps are still present you have to use the menu and actually switch to the map you want to use - the TT can't know which map you want...
To fix your problems once and for all:
Delete all .DCT files on the SD and the internal memory,
make sure you use one of my Navcore, a SE ttsystem or patch a genuine Navcore with FastActivate,
Activate the maps - that means running FA on the SD and on the internal memory,
confirm all maps are activate by checking for a new .dct file inside the map folder,
start the TT and select the map of your choice.
To do it properly you should have a ttgo.bif on the internal and SD memory and of course use the latest FA version.

Many thanks for your reply Downunder. I have patched both the device and SD card with FA. I have a copy of FA in the root menu of the TT and also on the SD card. I will carryout out instructions tomorrow and report back.

Dave

1. Are You Sure??
2. You did not mention having a ttgo.bif file in the root menu & on the card.

Yes I'm sure. I was looking through stickies etc on the forum and saw that it was necessary to have the ttgo.bif & the ttsystem files on the SD card to be able to patch the Maps. See my Post No #185

Dave
