Razorblatter wrote:No, mainly because your statement is not valid.
TomTom does offer 970 maps. I've seen it on two accounts and I've seen e-mails detailing this.
Other then that: It's the normal schedule of releasing maps. Feb, May, Aug and Nov. Nothing new, nothing surprising.

PwNzZx50's statement is quite valid!! Below is copied direct from TT.com.

Map of USA
Drive with the latest map
•99% road coverage
•Includes millions of restaurants, hotels and other Points of Interest
•Includes local speed limits
Map version 9.65

NO, I don't have an answer, other than they are slow updating their website.
I do not give help by PM. It deprives our other members of a chance to learn. Please post your issue in the appropriate forum/thread. You will get an answer.

That may be, but I have seen that TomTom Home offers v970 maps.

Quite stupid that the updated online map shop (which is not very comfortable to use in this new version) is quoting outdated data.
Whatever may be the case, the v970 maps are to be obtained, from TT and are not a product of zealous TT map addicts.

Hello, does that mean if I install Europe_East_970_7468/90/9 I will lose IQRoutes and AdvanceLaneGuiding as per maps details table (colours with NavCore and maps version).

I also do not understand what makes TomTom to make such a decision to drastically downsize the maps and most probably the information it contains. On the other side, my One IQ Routes with 2GB got almost full with Europe_East_960 + few voices / speed cams.

Does someone know how much resolute change TT made? Just considering the size of map between high and low level seems very radical...

Cheers!

It is quite impossible to understand why they've chopped up the high level maps (ALG, IQ Routes and/or CSpeech, ASR) into these often unpracticle maps. Yes, the maps were growing and were getting quite near the 2 gb but the current situation (v965 and 970) worsens the usefullness of the maps in a lot of cases. In some cases you can suffice with adding a map like France or Iberia but in other cases you will need to change map zones in their entirity if you are making long travels.

In my mind, TT is chasing their old customers away in the direction of new models or into the arms of the competition.

Well,

I'd rather go for an option #2. I must admit, I've been using TT, can't even remember the time exactly, but it were the times when 8xx were out, so quite a time already.

Cannot seem to find it again, but it looks that big Europe map has been broken down into 4 or 5 major regions and those have been fragmented into even more subregions. Not sure why, but if they put a 'starter pack' equipped with 1GB out, this 'semiclassing' would totally make sense...

Not sure about who would buy a device with a single purpose though... I must admit, it still feels right like in the old days putting my one IQ routes on the windshield and steer upon instructions, but not sure if this is sustainable... been using/trying couple of satnav in mobile OS (iOS/Android), but neither one is perfect or expected to be perfect enough to be the 'first knight' as one would expect. Either the developer of app relies too much on a map provider(i.e. TomTom) or they navigation algorithm just is not right...

I guess, I need to compare how much of new maps 965+ have been cut down just to fit to newer devices... Or should I check an auction site and try to find for an old One with SD card and stop bothering? .)

An sd-card solution is always the most comfortable one.
But you can also buy a new LTM device. But make sure it contains all countries you need. TT is also selling LTM devices with European countries but without Eastern Europe.
Today I heard about a Start 25 device bought in Germany that even did not contain Iberia. It only contained 19 countries. Well, that sure ruins your LTM experience.

It's not even out on the TomTom website, so doubt it.
