Sorry for the newbie question but I'm not understanding what I'm doing wrong.

I have a GO730 which has Navcore 9.510 and has been running this for the past few months with map 940.5966 without any issues.
Today I decided to update to a later map.
I backed up my map folder (New_Zealand), deleted everything in it then downloaded 951.6598 and installed that.
Ran Fastactivator (latest) and everything went ok until I rebooted.
I just got the message "You can't use this map in this unit" (map 100-421)

So then I downloaded NewZealand Installer 951.6596 and ran that (after clearing out the map folder).
Then ran Fastactivate and got the same result - "You can't use this map on this device" (map 100-419)

Both maps had meta files in the map folder.

Am I wrong in thinking that the '951' at the beginning of the map number means it will work with Navcore 9.510?

Rule 1 for new maps: Check if a meta code is available for the map.
Rule 2 for new maps: Make sure to use the latest version of FastActivate.
Rule 3 for new maps: If 1 and 2 are true and a .dct file was created in the map folder it usually means the Navcore is not patched.
In some case there can be problems with multiple activation attempts, so make sure to delete all .dct files from
the device before activating again.

The only NZ map with code so far is New_Zealand_955_6746
And yes, your assumption is wrong, please check the map chart for compatibility.
First three numbers are the map edition, 955 is current, the last four numbers state the "features" or in official TT terms for which devices a map is intended.
We cheat here by installing Navcores that allow full featured maps aon all devices

But in your GO 730 case you don't have to fiddle about with modded software since your official navcore is the best for your device, capable for running all maps.

That might be true but I think all newbies can be thankful that the times of DOS programs, manual editing of config files and the endless confusion is over
I can still remember the days where users tried to get the best out of their oldies with all sorts of cryptic settings LOL

Yes, it IS a Kiwi thing. Dunno why. It doesn't help that I'm hugely distracted at the moment.

Then again, that's a Kiwi thing too.

However, with your patience and assistance, I know more today than I knew yesterday and hopefully won't have to ask for help again!

If you keep the map updates going you will notice by this time of next year you don't even think about what you are doing
