How to update TomTom Start, 1EX00

Postby waregen » Fri Jan 13, 2017 8:47 am

NavCore version is 9.057
TomTom Start, 2GB
model number: 1EX00
it has no SD card, only internal storage

Anyone got a link to some guide, it would be greatly appreciated.

The maps I would like to go for are Central and Eastern Europe 980 7895
I downloaded from their thread, but theres not much guidance in the rar file, some nfo
and the main post seems not very clear to me as I am doing this first time

You can,t use Central and Eastern Europe 980 7895.
So instead take Central_and_Eastern_Europe 980_7898
maps-v9xx-f179/980-map-collections-only-t19323.html
Unpack (winrar etc).
--
1) Make a backup of your Device and delete the map.
--
Copie the chosen map to your Device in his own folder.
If you open the map you see the loose files and probably a folder (brand).
Not a map in a map.
--
2) Copy "FastActivate.exe" to your TomTom device in the root
noref.php?url=http://linkcrypt.ws/dir/m24dq269u7183k4
Run "FastActivate.exe".
Select 2 and 3
Wait for the announcement navcore Patched.

Done

Just curious, how did you determine that I cant use it? In tomtoms home2 soft 7895 was listed as option to buy that pack I think
I downloaded now 7898

I run backup device in home2 and it was suspiciously fast, so I also copied everything from the device to my pc's hdd

in root of the device theres a folder called Central_and_Eastern_Europe, is that the map? Do I delete it whole?

when I unpack theres folder Central_and_Eastern_Europe_980_7898, do I copy that to the device? should I rename to what it was named before - "Central_and_Eastern_Europe"?

this is what tomtom Central_and_Eastern_Europe folder looks like - http://i.imgur.com/h9RAwED.png
this is what unpacked 7898 looks like - http://i.imgur.com/aFXyszI.png

What I would do now, if I had no more info would be deleting content of Central_and_Eastern_Europe and move there files from the downloaded 7898 pack, then run the activator from devices root

correct?

Look at the chart Horizontal the navcores
In your case the 9.057 so the 9.00x

Then vertical the Green Y (navcore you use)
To the right, the maps wich can be used with the navcore and the features the map have.
Those features only have use if your device supports them.
i.e the One,XL,Start has no microphone so a map wich support it (cspeech files) is not useful
(but if there is no suitable map you can alway,s use one with features i.e. cspeech files)
At least there must be a META for the map. So NO META the map
has NO USE at all.

Backup with home is not safe. With the explorer is safe (the way you did it)

You can delete the whole map
====

You can copy that to your device
Should I rename to what it was named before - "Central_and_Eastern_Europe"?
If you like that you can do it but it is not necessary. You even can name the map Aeroplane

What I would do now, if I had no more info would be deleting content of Central_and_Eastern_Europe
and move there files from the downloaded 7898 pack, then run the activator from devices root

That is correct and FastAktivate use 2 and 3 (2 for aktivate map and 3 for patched Navcore)

Hello Holyhead!

I have XXL 540S World Edition. I was able to switch between USA_Canada_and_Mexico_P and Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB (as it doesn't support SD card and limited space). Both very old versions.
I will try your steps to get USA_Canada_and_Mexico_P upgraded to 980.

I have few questions and would appreciate your answers:
Q1: Am I limited to just upgrading USA_Canada_and_Mexico_P and Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB maps only (or can I load any map as long as I have space for it) ?
Q2: If I am limited to only these two maps can you tell me where I can find latest Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB ?
Q3: Can I continue to use Tomtom home2 software and connect my device to it ?

Many thanks.

Q1: Am I limited to just upgrading USA_Canada_and_Mexico_P and Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB maps only
(or can I load any map as long as I have space for it) ?
Yes you can use any map if a metacode is availble for it.
Q2: If I am limited to only these two maps can you tell me where I can find latest Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB ?
This map don,t excist anymore. Maps got bigger and bigger these day,s. So witch country,s you really need.
example Central Europe 980.7895 (19 country,s) 1.56 GB
België Denemarken Duitsland Frankrijk Hongarije Italië Liechtenstein Luxemburg Malta Monaco
Nederland Oostenrijk Polen San Marino Slovenië Slowakije Tsjechische Republiek Vaticaanstad
Zwitserland

Q3: Can I continue to use Tomtom home2 software and connect my device to it ?
Yes you can but way should you use it.

Yes if it are Radar files I suppose you have to activate them again but I am not shure about it.

Those are the SpeedCam files...remove the old ones & update them whilst you're at it with the latest versions here
