Hey guy im new to this forum and found it after trying to update my maps.
I have a tomtom xl live iq routes edition and have downloaded the latest Europe West 950.6548 maps self installer. I backed up and deleted the previous maps on the sd card and ran the installer, chose the sd directory, pressed install. Now the maps installed after i went onto FastActivate.exe and updated the Meta.txt, Patched the maps, voices, Speedcam and fuel prices then finally patched the navcore, however when i reboot it says i cant use the map on this device?
On tomtom home it offers me to purchase this exact update so i know its compatable with this device, what am i missing out?

Sorry if its a stupid question im new to this and any help will be appreciated

Welcome to Navitotal.

This is the classic message when a map isn't patched. Look for a .meta.dct file in the 6548 map folder. No file = map not patched. If so, copy FastActivate.exe & a copy of your ttgo.bif file into the 6548 map folder & run option 2. Look again for the .meta.dct file.

hey so after a bit of searching i found this exact same answer in another thread and I have just done this, however it says .dct error and has put the map under incomplete maps?

I went on tomtom home to see if i could do anything there and under activations it can recognise the map however it isnt activated. so it seems like activation is the issue.

there is a Europe_West-100396.meta file in the map directory however no .dct file

is there any other way i can activate the map as fastactivate clearly isnt working

My bad!!!! I forgot the most important first step. Check to see if the map has a meta code & therefore is usable.

its also in the meta files for fastactivate, however it still doesnt activate?

Could it be due to the naming of the folder? The folders named as Europe_West__950_6548 in the sd card

ok its created a .dct file after renaming the name in meta.txt however the tomtom is constantly rebooting?

EDIT: Have been told by another user that they are different maps (Still not sure why) but can use the Europe West 6492 meta code for this, so will try this and report back

Europe West 950.6548 & Western_Europe 950_6548 are not the same map!!!!!

The Europe map has gotten so large that TT created 5 zone maps, Europe North, South, East, West & Central.
Western Europe is a full free standing map.

Europe West 950.6548 & Western_Europe 950_6548 are not the same map!!!!!

I have understood they are not the same map and am now downloading the western europe maps

So is Western Europe a free map or paid map? Im just confused as to why theres a western europe map and europe west map when theyre maps of essentially the same countries?

1. It is a paid map. There are NO FREE maps from TomTom.
2. There is also a Central Europe & Europe Central, Eastern Europe & Europe East, Southern Europe & Europe South, & a Europe North, but NO Northern Europe.
