TomTom One 3rd Edition - stuck on bootup screen

Postby akiko » Tue Sep 01, 2015 11:04 am

Hello, I made my original post in the v7xx forum but now I know the maps I wanted were v9xx :)

My info:

TTGO.BIF:
DeviceName=TomTom ONE
DeviceVersionHW=ONE (v6)
BootLoaderVersion=55001
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8010
ApplicationVersion=9369
CurrentMap=Australia
CurrentMapVersion=720.1868
TTGO.BAK:
Not Found...
TTGO.ORI:
Not Found...

I've installed Western_US_and_Canada v945.6243 and deleted the Australia map folder (as obviously both won't fit). I also had to delete almost all of the voices (which I did through TomTom Home) and images from various from folders and subfolders. I did not delete any folders.

However, now the GPS is stuck on the bootup/loading screen. I get the drum sounds and that's it. Can someone advise me on what I can do?

Edit: I've run the FastActivate "My Device Info" and it now looks like this (first output was TTCurrentConfig) :

ttgo.bif:
DeviceName=TomTom ONE X
DeviceVersionHW=ONE (v6)
DeviceSerialNumber=Y4xxxxxxxxxx
BootLoaderVersion=10012
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8010
ApplicationVersion=9369
CurrentMap=Australia
CurrentMapVersion=720.1868

Map(s):
e:\Western_US_and_Canada_945_6243\

Storage:
Size 488MB, Free 5MB

If you install Navcore and map properly it will work.
It is a simple process, so do it again from scratch and it should work.

Agreed - the process seems very simple. I copied all my old files back and it boots up fine. But when I try to put the other region map the space gets very tight. I deleted the .spotlight and .trashes folders (leftovers from when I plugged it into a Mac) to make more room, but even then I only have 2.5 mbs of free space afterward.

Is it possible I just need a smaller map?

Thanks for any help :)

Edit: I did not install a new navcore, just patched the existing.

Yes, try and find a smaller map that suits your needs...you might have to get a couple of smaller maps that you can swap over when required.

If you are too limited in space you miht want to grab a soldering iron and install an internal SD card.

Okay, I've made progress! I was able to get Western US and Canada 900.4610 and it fits (after deletion of voices and such)! :)

I used the auto installer and then patched the navcore right after... but now I get this error message:

"You cannot use this map on this device: Western_US_and_Canada"

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm soooo close!

My Device info looks good except for the line that shows CurrentMap. Perhaps that is it?

ttgo.bif:
DeviceName=TomTom ONE
DeviceVersionHW=ONE (v6)
DeviceSerialNumber=Y4xxxxxxxxxx
BootLoaderVersion=55001
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8010
ApplicationVersion=9369
CurrentMap=
CurrentMapVersion=0.0

Map(s):
E:\Western_US_and_Canada_900_4610\

Storage:
Size 488MB, Free 30MB

I've figured it out. I don't have the .dct file in my map folder.

Even though I chose the auto installer/patcher, it didn't create the .dct on its own.

I used FastActivate to try and patch it anyway, and I got the error:

Incomplete Map(s): Western_US_and_Canada-672.meta => .dct ERROR

Guess it's time to look for yet another map.

p.s. Thanks, downunder35m, for the very informative post here

I DID IT!! I GOT IT TO WORK!!!!

I downloaded some smaller maps, but for some reason I just couldn't get them to patch correctly (wouldn't create the .dct file). The maps I tried were:

Western US and Canada 900.4608
Western US and Canada 900.4610 (auto installer)

And then I had a revelation - on the first map I tried (Western US and Canada 945.6243 auto installer), I was able to run FastActivate steps 1 and 2. But every time I tried to patch the navcore, FastActivate would always crash. If I re-opened FastActivate and tried to run step 3 again, it would say the navcore was already patched.

I realized that whenever FastActivate crashed, the ttsystem file would change from 6.03 mb to only 1 kb. My guess is because I didn't have enough "swap space" - with only 2 mb of free space left on the GPS, it just didn't have enough room to update and save the new file.

So I copied the 6.03 mb ttsystem file to my computer, put FastActivate into the same folder, and ran step 3 from there. Voila! Successfully patched without crashing! I deleted ttsystem from the GPS and copied the new ttsystem from my computer to the GPS... and now it works!

I'm posting my solution here in case someone else encounters the same problem. If it's helpful to even one person, that will be worth all the days I spent banging my head on the keyboard over this. :)

I know this has been already checked but look to see what navcore version you are using on you device and then check the 900. chart to see which maps are compatible for you device ..It may be the device lack of space but if the navcore version is not compatible with the map it will not run anyway

Congrats.

Western_US_and_Canada 955_6801 is current, if you have enuf space.

Do make sure that the map you download also has a meta before you start.
