I have a TomTom XL 1Gb... it has no SD slot and I'm not going to solder one on.

Is there a map that will fit for USA and Canada? What are my options? I'm somewhat of a newb with this.

Basically I've found that the old maps take 836MB on the device and there is only 979MB available. The maps I downloaded are 1GB... so no possibility of fitting.

Are there new-ish maps that will work on my 1GB XL?

You can't delete any of the folders of the map.... except the POI.dat file.
That can be deleted but of course you won't be able to navigate to adresses in the POI categories.
That's a quick and efficient solution if you can bring the sacrifice.

955_6801 is only 822 mb big. That'll easily fit onto your device.

I downloaded it and the 1GB version 6803 is 1GB exactly... the 6801 looks the same to me.

I just noticed the Eastern US/Canada versions are smaller so I should be able to use these.

Which file specifically is 822MB?
