USA_Canada_925_5412 not fitting on Go730

Postby jimbohones » Mon Mar 24, 2014 8:19 pm

I just tried to copy the USA_Canada 925_5412 to my Go730 and I'm short by about 5Mb of space. The previous map 920_5241 fit fine. I've been noticing however over the updates that they have been getting slightly larger each time so kinda expected this to occur sooner or later. Any recommendations other than using an SD card for storage?

You are correct. US & C 925.5412 is around 400MB larger than US & C 920_5241. If you have more than 1 Loquendo voice, remove 1 of them. That should be enuf. OR several times, when I'm just a few MBs short of space, I've loaded the map in pieces rather than the whole folder at once. Try loading 500 or 600MBs at a time.

I have only 1 Loquendo voice, I had a couple novelty voices (Vader and Homer) which were small but I got rid of them anyway. I still didn't have enough room though. I didn't copy 2 files from the map and those were 'faces.met' and 'faces.dat' - 66.9Mb and 7Kb respectively. Are those important map files? Are there any other candidates that I can remove instead?

Yes I did the installment copy just like you suggested.

You reckon this is just TT's way of phasing out older devices?

FYI, I put back the faces.* files, and removed the cspeechTX.dat file (21Mb) as I figure I'll never go down to Texas.

I wouldn't think so. Too many of the older units have card slots.
