Hi,

I have a TT XL and i am looking for the USA and Canada maps.

I have downloaded one but it says there is not enough space and I have been looking around but it looks like all of them are too big to fit on the device.

any help would be appreciated.

No SD card slot?

If not you might have to look into getting a slightly different map due to maps getting larger over time:

Eastern_US_and_Canada_965_7280 (834.9 MB)
Western_US_and_Canada_965_7280 (487.9 MB)
Northern_US_and_Canada_965_7280 (480.3 MB)

All of the above do have meta data available and are suitable for your device

there is no SD card slot.

So this device is outdated to the point it cant update the full maps.

No, it's not outdated as such. As I said in post #2 it's just that TomTom's maps have grown larger over time due to more roads being built etc so naturally everyone without an SD card slot is in the same position.

It's not a big problem but you'll have to download map regions that are more specific to your needs rather than the whole country.

Perfect so I am downloading Canada-Alaska because need mostly Canada map.

on the device it has a director as USA_and_Canada

Do I change that directory to Canada_and_Alaska? or it doesn't matter

Hang on a minute...every map needs to have meta data (serial number) available so it can be activated successfully. Before you start downloading a map you should check that there is already meta available here otherwise you'll be wasting your time...unless you intend to buy it from TomTom of course. I had already done this for you in the maps I'd suggested in post #2.

Canada 965_7280 is compatible with your device and does have meta data available so if that's the one you're downloading then you'll be ok.

As for the directories, each map comes in it's own folder. When it comes to installing the maps, you'll need to move the old map folder to a safe location before you move the new map folder in its place.

Canada 965_7280 is the one I downloaded.
