WIN CE 6 map choice

Sat Dec 01, 2012 5:55 am

Hi all! i have tested endlessly trying to install 900 maps to my win ce 6 system unsuccessfully. I checked the Map/navcore graphic and as far as I can tell i need 900.4600 for it. i got tomtom 7.910 with 895.4436 map running great on WinCE6 . i have used the win ce emulator trick, prepared a route then activated map with correct .bif file and .meta using activator 1.8.9.0 AND attavatore with no success. 7.910 sees the map but says activation is not correct. Any ideas ? I am doing something wrong!?! :chok_mini: I have 900.4600 running on my HTC HD2 and my GO710 no problem.

Thanks in advance!

It would help and make sense to included vital information into a request.
So far we still have no real clue about what you are trying to do ;)

Sorry, I thought i'd covered it all,

SYSTEM is chinese gps WIN CE 6.0
navcore version is 7.910
map is australia 900.4600
I used the newest activator 1.8.9.0
and i have successfully run the 895.4436 map on this device with no issues.
What do i need to do to get the map 800.4600 to run? OR is it the wrong map for the Win CE6 system?
how much more info do you need? oh , i see running switches ....
Thanks for the reply

The map was the missing info, only the number is not really enough ;)
According to the chart your choice of map should be fine but you did not mention if FastActivate created a dct file inside the map folder or gave any error message.
If no dct is created it means the map is not activated.
Try running FA from inside your map folder, add a meta.txt with the code for the AU map (if not already present), also a copy of your .bif file.
Now FA must activate the map, if not post any error FA shows.

Hi

I use this tool to activate TT maps :

[Please Register or Login to download file]

usage:
unzip and put "tt8_keygen.exe" in the map folder you want to activate.
put also meta.txt in your map folder
open a dos box with administrator right
go to your folder map
type this command ( exemple is map of Spain and XXXXXXXX is your DeviceUniqueID )
f:\spain>tt8_keygen.exe f:\spain XXXXXXXX
your map should be actived

Yeah i did state the full map version, with meta.txt and bif with FA 1.8.9.0 and I did forget to mention that it DID create a DCT file( no error message), however win CE says it is incorrect dct file, I dont get it, it has always worked for older maps, 895.4436 is still working beautifully.:chok_mini: lol

; Australia v900.4600
A0 B4 0B 46 0E 70 31 19 12 6F 89 FC DA 75 34 82 Australia-667.meta
Is the correct meta code.
Are you certain your bif file is correct?
If a dct is created the only other option would be that the device ID in the bif is not correct.
I have not heard that the meta would be wrong, that only leaves your device now.

Yep, you are correct, as I stated in 1st post, the meta is good and worked well with my other two devices(go 710 and HTC HD2). The device ID has always been the same and always worked with 800 maps. It still works with my 895.4436 Australia. Ive run out of ideas ive used all versions of activator. Have TomTom done something different? Ive only got one response from a user saying he got it working on a winCE system but he didnt tell me how ... very peculiar... i'm stumped:chok_mini: If I work it out I will certainly write an in depth tutorial and share it with you all! Thanks for all your time Downunder35m!

The CE versions are not really user friendly and known to cause problems, maybe it is time to think of alternatives?
