Hi tendriver and popeye.
Thanks guys for you patience and effort, but I'm not getting anywhere. I love my Garmin, think i'll tell son to buy one as a present to himself.
Popeye uploaded 2 new files to FF to replace the corrupted part2.rar which appears to have worked, the 2 files extracted ok to my desktop folder creating 24 files.
I then copied this folder to root of TT and included the ttgo.bif file as I was advised, then ran fastactivate from both the root of TT and from within the map folder. Neither work, one way the dialog box just stays blank for a few seconds then disappears doing nothing, the other way it flashes up the text "Patching Navcore. please wait..." then just goes blank and sits there till I close it. Could the fastactivate file also be corrupted on the server????
Do I need to do anything special with the meta code ??? I noticed that the latest meta code thread contains a line United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland 955_6746
B0 D2 5C E0 45 ED 4D 6D 8E 21 72 90 C7 C2 73 6E United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-100465.meta ;
whereas the map folder contains a file for United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland 955_6746-100455.meta
Any other advice?
Thanks again
Steve

PS. plan B.
Would it do any harm to completely format the TT from my pc and reload everything from TT Home to get rid of anything that may be causing problems, and then try to install the new map again? I have made a backup if anything goes wrong.

Is there more than 6 mb free on your TT? If not that might explain FastActivate's behaviour.
Did you try running it as administrator?
You could copy ttgo.bif, ttsystem.dat, PNFNavigator, FastActivate and the map's .PNA and .meta files to a USB drive and patch it there.
If that succeeds move and overwrite the files on your XXL. In it's correct location.
Your plan b could also be an effective solution but not if you have too little space left on your XXL. However, that should not be any problem with only the UK&RoI map.

STOP!!
Create a new folder. In this folder put a copy of your unedited ttgo.bif file, & a copy of the UK&ROT .meta file &.PNA file. Zip this folder. Upload it to zippyshare & PM the link to me..

Welcome to Navitotal.
It's kinda hard to answer your question, without knowing what area you need it to cover. Unless you have 4GB of storage, you can forget a full Europe map. They are all over 2GBs.
