(works on a C510 and C710 - C310 can't say)
This method should make it possible to, even after a hard reset, just start up iGO by the MIOMAP pictogram (main menu MioC710)
You need a iGO program for this. I suppose you have it ready on your PC.
If someone tries this with Primo, let us know. I suppose it should work as well.
Step 1
See you have a back up of your Mio so you are able to set it back in the original state !! Very important !!!
Step 2
Unzip or Unrar (if necessary) the iGO8 on your PC.. Now you should have a folder called iGO8.
Step 3
Copy these lines in a file editor
[folders]
app="%SDCARD%\iGO8"
[interface]
resolution_dir="320_240"
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1
show_timezoneslider=1
reset_os_timezone=1
landscape=1
[timezone]
sync_os_timezone=0
reset_os_timezone=0
[debug]
skip_eula=1
smart_2d=1
slowsim=1
loop_sim=0
show_speed_limit=1
show_tmc=1
speedcam_enabled=1
show_arrows_on_route=1
[rawdisplay]
class="landscape"
screen_x=320
screen_y=240
[sound]
sound_q_length=200
queue_length=200
[speedcam]
enable_at_startup=1
disable="_SUI", "_GER", "_AUT"; for Europe
[map]
auto_nightmode=1
[msnd]
msnd.start=0
[tmc]
source="gns"
port="COM,1"
[gps]
source="nmea"
port="COM,2"
Save it and name the file sys.txt. Save it on your PC for now.
Step 4
Now replace the original sys.txt (in the iGo folder) by the sys.txt just made.
When you have in the iGO8 folder another folder called '2577', delete it
When in the iGO8 folder there is a file called 'application.dat', rename it to 'miomap.exe' (see you have only 1 file with that extension!)
When in the iGO8 folder there is a file called 'iGO8.exe', rename it to 'miomap.exe' (see you have only 1 file with that extension!)
Rename gpstmc.dll to gpstmc.old
Next copy the complete iGO folder onto a sd card
Step 5
Put the sd card in the sd slot of the Mio.
Turn on the device. Press and hold the plus (+) and menu button (at the same time). Do a soft reset
(on the bottom side of the device is a reset hole' to be pressed by a stylus, or paperclip)
Keep holding the plus (+) and menu button pressed until you get a message COPY .
Click 'NO' - you get an error message - Click 'OK'
If all is well, Windows CE start screen appears, Click on the Windows logo, go to PROGRAMS, choose WINDOWS EXPLORER.
Double click on STORAGE CARD, goto iGO8 folder, select miomap.exe, copy this file (menu-edit-copy)
Click the BACK arrow and go to MY FLASH DISK\MIOMAP\MIOMAP. Next paste ((menu-edit-paste)
Do the same with the sys.txt file.
Do a soft-reset (the hole at the bottom )
From now on, iGO will start up by pressing the pictogram MIOMAP in the main menu
Remarks
Some (older) igo's create by themselves OUT OF MEMORY errors on a C710. If that happens, replace your data.zip and branding.zip
OUT OF MEMORY errors can also be prevented by disabling scrolling street names.
