MIO C520 partitions

Postby cobaltmirror » Fri Jun 02, 2023 8:49 am

Anyone familiar with the partitions on the Mio C520?

My thought was to wipe the Navigation software partition to get a clean Win Ce 5 partition to boot into.

Is that even possible and do i need to do a fresh install of Windows Ce afterwards?

Heres how it looks from inside WinCE5 Store Manager:

DSK1: Pocketmory MLC Disk - Partitions: Mio* 952MB
DSK2: Sd Memory Card
SmFLSH Samsung Flash Disk - Partitions: Part00 * 22MB

Based on your question, you'd be better off not doing this. You can put other software on the SD card. Do not touch win ce, without experience you can get a "brick".

Ok thanks for replying, just wanted to find a way to keep my windows ce programs intact when i have a power drain.
As i understand windows ce is stored on a "temporary" memory which will reset when the battery dies.

I now have a simple unlock installed to be able to reach windows ce and that works fine, just have to remember to charge it
once in a while because 16 year old units tend to keep short battery time :)

You can change the battery from a mobile phone, the main thing is that it fits in the navigator body in size.
